Age 86 passed away May 12, 2005 at her residence. She was born December 8, 1918 in Applewald, PA, the daughter of William and Effie (Bowser) McCollum. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family. On November 27, 1941 she married Robert C. Cunningham, Sr. and he preceded her in death in June of 1993. She is survived by a daughter, Glee (Floyd) Longfellow of Tyler, Texas, and a son, Robert (Minna) Cunningham of Stockbridge, Mi; 1 sister-in-law Joy McCollum of Beaver, PA; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Paul and Roy McCollum, and 2 sisters, Helen Benton, and Gladys Butler. There will be a graveside service at Lawn Haven Cemetery, in Worthington, PA on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at 11:00A.M. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Heartland Hospice, 865 S. Dennis Panoff
Of Munith

Age 62, passed away May 13, 2005 at University of Michigan Hospital, after a courageous four year battle with cancer. He was born September 9, 1942, the son of Philip and Fannie (Phillips) Panoff. He was actively serving as the Waterloo Township Zoning Administrator. He enjoyed all sports, but was an avid fan of MSU football and Red Wing Hockey. On May 13, 1967 he married Susan J. O’Brien, and she survives. He is also survived by his children; Jennifer (Thomas) Cicalo of Grass Lake, Alex (Kelley) Panoff of New Hudson, and Stephanie (Jeffrey) Palmer of Michigan Center, 5 grandchildren counting one on the way; 1 brother, Paul (Margaret) Panoff, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, his beloved dog Dewey and many special friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his father Philip on June 16, 1997. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Arbanas officiating, at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and again Tuesday, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m.
Floyd L. Layton
of Dexter

Age 96 Died at Silver Maples in Chelsea on Sunday, May 15, 2005. He was born the son of Floyd L. and Helen G (Kenedy) Layton on December 12, 1908 in Brownsville, Texas. On October 13, 1937 he married Alvera Moon and she survives. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Dexter, a Worshipful Master of the Masons, a member of the Elks Club, and Zal Grotto in Ann Arbor. Floyd was also a past Mayor of Dexter, and Supervisor of Scio Township. In his younger days Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during vacations. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children Floyd L. (Judy) Layton of Higgins Lake, Pat (Dave) Coval of Dexter, and Sandy (Bob) Briggson of Mesa Arizona. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren; Eric Layton of Traverse City, Erin Layton of Houghton Lake, Scott Layton of Higgins Lake, Julie (Ted) Stilber of Dexter, Michael (Dawn) Coval of East Grand Rapids, Jan (Drew) Stirton of Novi, Rob (Janice) Briggson of Brighton and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters; Eleanor Hornbrook of Sanibel Island, FL, Elsie Strong of Farmington Hills, and Nova West of Corpus Christy, TX. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister; Lewis Layton, Charles Layton and Margaret House. A private burial will take place at a later date. Forest ’Deac’ Hartley
of Stockbridge

Age 85 passed away in Noblesville, Indiana on May 5. He was born on March 22, 1922 to Ralph and Lillie (Galbreath) Hartley in Noblesville IN. on August 15, 1947, in Fitchburg, he married Merilyn Onalee Batdorf and she survives. Deacon Hartley was a man of great strength and generosity, who lived his life loving his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. His humor and kindness enriched the warm household he built with his cherished wife, Onalee. Deacon served his Country in WWII from August 19, 1942 - December 3, 1945, Army, Battery 'B' 196th Field Artillery Battalion. He fought 11 months in the European Theatre as a P.F.C. and earned 5 battle stars. He was a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and the American Legion, Stockbridge .Deacon worked at North American Rockwell in Chelsea for 34 years 10 months, from August 1940 until his retirement in June 1975. He belonged to the Munith Rod and Gun Club where he served as Treasurer for many years. In his younger years, Deacon enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement, he began displaying his talent in woodwork by carving various kinds of ducks, birds, fish, sailboats and elaborate canes out of palm blossoms. He also enjoyed bird and animal watching and playing the bones. He is survived by his children; Daniel L. (Gail) Hartley, Dennis L. (Laureen) Hartley and Clifford A. (Dawn) Hartley. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Nathan Hartley, Christopher Hartley, Jeremy Hartley, Brian Hartley, Danielle Hartley, Kee Hartley, Heather Hartley-Black, Brooke Hartley, great grandchildren; Taylor Hartley, Rebecca Hartley, Emma Hartley, Elijah Hartley, and Stephen Hartley. Also surviving are his sister Jean (Jim) Ahearn and his brother Sam (Alberta) Hartley and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Herbert Hartley. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Robert Henning officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to; Stockbridge United Methodist Church, Diabetes Association, or a charity of ones choice. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 9:00 p.m.

Age 64 passed away April 25, 2005 at her residence. She was born March 9, 1941 in Belding, Michigan, the daughter of Vergil & Charlotte (Blazen) Ring. She enjoyed playing at casinos, mushroom hunting and traveling. On June 11, 1960, she married James E. Reynolds in Charlotte Michigan, and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter Tammy Reynolds of Stockbridge, 1 brother, Bill (Barbara) Ring of Grand Rapids, 1 grand-daughter Amber Reynolds. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Jimmy and Rex, and 1 brother Terry Ring. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the Stockbridge United Methodist Church. surrounded by her loving family. Jan was born February 16, 1953 in
Ypsilanti, the daughter of Roy and Margaret (Atkinson) Herman. She married Robin J. Raymond in Toledo, Ohio on August 16, 1978. Jan loved the out of doors, enjoying countless hours in the sunshine, taking slow rides around the lake, kayaking and participating in her aerobic and yoga classes. She was an active member of Immanuel Bible Church in Chelsea. Jan and her family have resided in Chelsea for the past 27 years. She has had the thrill and honor of watching her family grow and prosper; becoming young adults that she is so very proud of. Jan leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, her four children Chad (Karla) Raymond of Indianapolis, Nicole White-Raymond of Ann Arbor, Robyn Raymond of Ann Arbor and Kyle Raymond of Chelsea, two grandchildren David and Joshua, her sister Beverly (Steve) Kayfesh of Ypsilanti, her mother in law Lila Raymond of Dundee, father in law Donald (Marge) Raymond of Standish, grandmother in law Margaret Guoan of Standish; brothers in law and sisters in law,Linda (Mike) Grady of Milan and Judy (Micky) Pelletier of Pinckney, David (Donna) Raymond of Tecumseh and Barbara Raymond of Adrian. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in law Mary Raymond. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 4, 2005 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner presiding and Pastor James Gorski officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Chelsea. Age 21, passed away Friday April 29, 2005 at his home. He was born on May 17, 1983 in Wayne , Michigan the son of Gary and Lori (Roberts) Hinman. Christopher graduated from Stockbridge High School in 2002. He enjoyed Fishing, Playing and watching all kind of sports, cleaning and organizing, and spending time with his family. On February 13, 2005 he married Jodie Furtney in Pinckney and she survives. Also surviving are, his father Gary (Debra May) of Skidway Lake, his mother, Lori (Mark Ware) of Gregory, His mother-in-law, Carol Furtney of Gregory, 2 brothers, James Roberts of Columbia SC., Ryan Elliott of Munith and Ashley Roberts of Munith. Material grandmother, Joyce Roberts of Penn., Paternal grandparents, Evelyn Lee of Skidway Lake, and Charles Hinman of Hartford. Several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Roberts, and his father-in-law Leo Furtney. A memorial services will be held on Wednesday May 4, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. from the Pinckney Community Church UCC with Rev Larry E. Van Slambrook officiating. Age 70, died Thursday, April 28, 2005 in Grayling. She was born April 11, 1935 in Jackson, the daughter of Lloyd and Emily (Kushmaul) Harr. She had lived and raised her family on the farm in Munith for 39 years and was an active member of the Munith United Methodist Church where she also enjoyed teaching Sunday school for more than 20 years. A 4-H leader, Cub Scout Den mother for several years. She retired from Consumers Power in 1990 after working for 27 years as an Engineering File Clerk. On January 16, 1954 she married Byron J. Stanfield in Munith and he survives. She is also survived by 1 son, John Stanfield of Spring Arbor; 2 daughters, Judy (Mark) McDonald of Ann Arbor and Lucinda (Frank) Hughes of Hillsdale; 2 sisters, Neta (Fred) Mills of Chelsea, Lillian Howe of Galesburg; 4 Grandchildren that her world revolved around are Aaron Goodlock, Heather McDonald, Rebecca Satterlee and Emily Satterlee. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Vaughn, and granddaughter Katie. Funeral services will be held Monday May 2, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with Rev. Art Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Munith Cemetery.
