Lynwood came from a pioneer Washtenaw County family and was the forth generation of Noahs to live in this area. He raised his family in the home that his great grandfather (Orange Noah) built after serving in the Civil War. Lynwood graduated from Chelsea High School, Eastern Michigan University with a BA in Business, and a law degree from the Detroit College of Law. Served in the Navy during the Korean War on board the USS Ticonderoga. He was inducted into the Michigan bar by his wife’s Uncle, Circuit Court Judge Halford Streeter. He served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Washtenaw County for more than 25 years, and was a Deputy Chief Prosecuting Attorney in his final years of service. Lynwood tried thousands of cases in all the Michigan courts including District, Circuit, Appeals, Supreme Court and had hearings and filings in front of the US Supreme Court. Lynwood received a distinguished Business Alumni Award from Eastern Michigan University. He will be best remembered for his photographic memory, his tenacity in the court room, his strong interest of history and reading, his brutal honesty, love of animals, his passion for live theater especially Gilbert and Sullivan, his love of cards, and his knowledge of the City of Chelsea and its residents history. Lynwood had made many friends with Michigan greats including a continuing correspondence with John Voelker a Michigan Supreme Court Justice and known as author Robert Traver, author of ’Anatomy of Murder’
. He was an avid story teller and with his memory had the ability to become an instant expert on many things. His fellow attorneys believed him to be born for the courtroom. At very early age he knew he wanted to be a prosecuting attorney. This interest resulted from his mother serving on jury duty and recanting events of the trial. He was a character, a colorful man full of witticisms. One of his favorite responses was ’It’s not ok, but that’s the way it is.’
Lynwood felt very strongly about public service, and came from a family of many public servants, including his father who was a justice of the peace, his brother a long serving township trustee, and all three of his daughters are public servants. He felt it was a most noble calling.

He is preceded in death my his parents, his in-laws, Gerard and Mary Kerkhoff, his brother in-laws Wilfred C. Lane, and Rick Lieffers; and a niece Gina Bills, and many beloved uncles and aunts.
