Wanda J. Jackson
of Grass Lake, MI

Age 68, loving wife of Bill for 48 years, passed away at home on December 25, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was born the daughter of Leland and Edna (Fisher) Pratt on September 16, 1938 in Jackson, Michigan. On January 17, 1958 she married Bill G. Jackson, and he survives. Wanda enjoyed sewing, making crafts and hosting family parties at her house where she did all the cooking. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Douglas Jackson of Manchester, Mark (Terri) Jackson of TN, Randy (Dawn) Jackson of Manchester, Linda Kensler of Manchester, Cindy (Ron) Cowen of Chelsea, and Karen (Mike) Ball of Chelsea. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and her sisters, Katie (Clifford) McWilliams of AZ, Dorothy Wimberly of TN, Noami (Joe) Fritz of Wayne, MI, Bertha (Frank) Vandercook of Bellville, MI, Leola (Doyle) Kyle of AR, Barbara (Harley) Parker of AR, and her twin sister, Wilda Meithrew of TN. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Florence Keefe. Funeral services will be Friday, December 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, with Rev. Alice Sheffield officiating, burial will take place at Oak Grove East Cemetery. Daphne F. Smeltzer
of Stockbridge, MI

Died at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 85 on December 25. She was born the daughter of Albany M. and Alice (Helliwell) Benson on April 7, 1921 in Colwyn Bay, Wales, United Kingdom. On November 22, 1964 she married her second husband Dale E. Smeltzer and he survives. She loved traveling, the theater, she and her first husband were founding members of the Goshen Civic Theater, she was known for her ’world class’ apple pies, enjoyed knitting, and sewing. Daphne was also a very caring person who put others before herself, she loved her family and loved being with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Sandy (Tom) Leabu of Stockbridge, Kim Cramer of Traverse City, Caren Smeltzer of Portland, Oregon, Barry (Terri) Smeltzer of Avondale, AZ, Kathy (Milton) Grant of Goshen, IN; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Richard Cramer, and her brothers and sister. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29 at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home at 4:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Arbor Hospice Foundation. Todd M. Morris
Of Stockbridge, MI

Age 41, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Chelsea Community Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1965 in Hendricks, Minnesota, the son of Robert and Carol (Gill) Morris. Todd graduated from Deubrook High School, White, South Dakota in 1983. Todd had lived in the area since 1991. He worked at Great Lakes Endodontics in Lansing as a Dental Technician. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the United Methodist Church of Stockbridge. Todd’s favorite pastimes were boating, hunting, and competing in Triathlon Competitions. On November 18, 1995 he married Susan B. Shollenberger, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Emma, age 10, and Lauren, age 6, his mother Carol, of Brookings, South Dakota, seven sisters, and four brothers: Robert L. Morris II (Susan), of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, Bud Morris (Bonnie), of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Debbie DeYoung (Gary) and their children, Amber, Stephanie and Stephen, of Brookings, South Dakota, Carolyn Schroeder and her children, Michael and Benjamin, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Tim Morris (Terri) and their children, Shane, Katie, and Chelsea, of Eagle, Colorado, Kathleen Monfore (Barry) and their children, Taeler, Ariel, Brooks, Tanner, and Dawson, of Pierre, South Dakota, Tammy Roelofsen (John) and their children, Jaimee, Jenna, and John Jr., of Toronto, South Dakota, Thomas Morris, of Watertown, South Dakota, Gayleen Morris and her children Michael, Matthew, Kahlen, and Chansley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Betsy Morris and her children Dietrich, and Leith, of Novi, Michigan, and Jodi Goya and her children, Avery and Diesel, of Thornton, Colorado; he is also survived by his father-in-law, William (Kathy) Shollenberger of Toledo, Ohio and brother-in-law, William Shollenberger along with his children, William and Kimberly of MissionViejo, CA. Todd was preceded in death by his father, as well as his mother-in-law Lee Shollenberger. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Stockbridge, with Rev. Robert Henning officiating. Franklin D. Sawyer
of Munith, MI.

Age 66, passed away Thursday December 21, 2006 at Ingham Medical Regional care facility Green Lawn Campus. He was born on February 17, 1940 in Floyd County Kentucky, the son of Walter and Florence (Derosset) Sawyer. Franklin had lived in the area for 65 years. He worked for Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti for 32 years retiring in 1988. He then drove bus for Stockbridge School district for 9 years. Golfing, hunting, playing softball, gardening, blue grass music and being with his grandchildren he truly loved. On October 10, 1959 he married Bethel Hicks and she survives, also surviving are three children, Franklin (Sherry) Sawyer of Munith, Gary Sawyer of Munith, and Pamela (Marty) Greenwald of West Milton, Ohio; Three brothers, Dewey (Edith) Sawyer and Paul (Jill Glair) Sawyer all of Jackson, and Bernard (Melba) Sawyer of Columbia City IN; one sister Arlene (Garry) Griffin of Jackson; one brother-in-law Robert Hunter; six grandchildren, Mallory Eccleton, Jacob Sawyer, Kate Eccleton, Andrew Sawyer, Kelly Sawyer, and Amanda Sawyer. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Belvie Hinton, Beulah Hunter; one brother Walter Sawyer Jr. Funeral services will be Saturday December 23, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge. Andy J. Brown
of Chelsea

Age 82 passed away at the Heartland Hospice in Superior Township on December 19 surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Andy and Hattie (Jackson) Brown on March 13, 1924 in Ivyton Kentucky. On September 12, 1946 in Angola Indiana he married Rose Mary Cheesbro and she survives. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army, and was employed At Rockwell International as a tool and die designer for 30 years until his retirement in 1982. Andy loved to hunt fox, coons rabbits, birds and deer, most of all he loved his family and his faith. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Star (Brian) Crowdis of Grass Lake, Dennis Brown or Grass Lake, Hattie J. Davis of Grass Lake, Paul B. (Audrey) Brown of Adrian, Danny (Carol) Brown of Grass Lake, Leon (Melinda) Brown of Grass Lake, Lois (Gregg) Hodgin of Asheboro, NC and Duke (Sandy) Brown of Grass Lake; Many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Andy was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter Candy Brown; two brothers and four sisters. Marian A. Buckley
of Stockbridge, Michigan.

Age 84, passed away Sunday December 17, 2006 at W.A. Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. She was born on October 6, 1922 in Lansing, Michigan the daughter of Roy and Edna (Bailey) Goodknecht. Marian had lived in the area all her life and was a 66 year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Stockbridge. She worked for Jacobson’s for 25 years as a switch board operator. Sewing, camping, fishing, boating and a Michigan State fan were her favorite things in life. She also was a ham operator and loved her computer and was a good neighbor and friend. Surviving four girls, Janet (Paul Murphy) Long of Stockbridge, Joyce (John) Salyer of Mason, Jean (Marty) Bliss of Stockbridge, and Linda (Jerry) Lowe of Munith; three sisters, Betty Miloszewski of Arizona, Vivian Spry of Jackson, and Phyllis Stowe of Stockbridge. The Children’s father George ’Charlie’ Hardt of Jackson; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Albert and Helen Malcho, her second husband Clifford Buckley and her special companion for 17 years, Roy Dewitt. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 20 2006 at 10:30 AM from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home Stockbridge with Rev Shannon O’Leary officiating. Anita G. Chieffi
of Grass Lake

Age 85 passed away at home on December 17. She was born the daughter of Charles A and Carolyn (Haines) Jones on August 30, 1921 in Chester, Pennsylvania. On November 2, 1946 she married Salvadore Chieffi and he preceded her in death on August 9, 2003. Anita enjoyed reading, visiting restaurants and watching the water at the inlet, when she traveled to Florida. She was also a prolific dreamer which she incorporated into her poem and songwriting hobby. Anita is survived by her children Norman Buerdsall of California, Jan A. (Sandy) Chieffi of Grass Lake, and Brady (Minyo) Chieffi of Osan Air Base, South Korea. Also surviving are her grandchildren Susan Buerdsall, Jared Chieffi, Derek Chieffi, Bonnie Chieffi, Song He Yu, Mark Kee, and Patrick Kee; her great grandchildren Dylan, Paton, Jasmine, Brendan, Nathan and Sophia Chieffi as well as, many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. William J. Turner officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church. Marie Antoinette Smith
of Pinckney, MI

Age 55, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2006. She was born July 9, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Leonard and Mary (LaCelle) Drogorub. On June 12, 1971 she married Russell D. Smith, who survives her after 35 years of marriage. Marie lived in the area since 1972, moving from Detroit. She attended Bethesda Bible Church in Ypsilanti. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, three children and nine grandchildren: Father Leonard Drogorub; Daughter Shelley (Robert) Parish and children Lydia, Alaina, and Sophia; Daughter Jennifer (John) Goodman and children Katelynn, Benjamin, Abigail, and Levi; Son Robert (Dirsa) Smith and children Sarah and Anna Grace. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Drogorub.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at the Bethesda Bible Church, 1800 S. Huron St., Ypsilanti, with Pastors Leon and Ann Johnson co-officiating. Burial will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park. Malcolm ’Wally’ Brown
of Gregory, Michigan

Age 84 - passed away at his home surrounded by his family on December 12. He was born the son of Harry L. and Ruth C. (Niemire) Brown on February 22, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan. On June 4, 1949 in Dearborn he married Geralda R. Hill and she survives. Wally enjoyed golfing, tinkering, fixing up properties and spending time with all his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons Larry W. (Christine) Brown of Grass Lake and Lee Brown of Sugar Loaf Lake. Also surviving are his sisters, Marie E. Burk of California and Edith A. (Norman) Luttman of Onaway, MI; three grand children, five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Age 65 passed away Tuesday December 5, 2006 at the West Branch Regional Medical Care Center. She was born on August 21, 1941 in Stockbridge, Michigan the daughter of Darryl and Genevieve (Johnson) Cool Sr. She enjoyed flowers, cooking and her grandchildren. Most of all her passion was to make everybody feel loved and be happy. She loved to decorate the house for all holidays but Christmas was her favorite. On June 20, 1961 she married Gerald R. Barbour and he survives, also surviving are her mother of Houghton Lake, two son’s Tim (Pam) Barbour of Tenn., and Jim (Anji) Barbour of Gregory. Four brothers, Darryl Jr (Betty) Cool of Houghton Lake, Charlie (Mary) Cool of Vernon, William (Kathleen) Cool of Stockbridge, and Mike Cool of Alabama; two sisters, Mary Howlett of Houghton Lake and Cindy Hunt of Houghton Lake; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. William M. Marsh
of Naples, Florida
Formerly of Chelsea

Age 88, passed away December 1, 2006, at his home. He was born on Feb. 16, 1918, in Logansport, IN, the son of Arthur and Margaret (Bitler) Marsh. Mr. Marsh lived in the area from 1955 until 2002, when he moved to Naples, FL. He worked for Rockwell International for 39 years. Mr. Marsh was the plant manager at the Rockwell Spring Facility in Chelsea from 1955-1968. He retired from Rockwell in 1978 as Director of Mechanical Devices. Mr. Marsh owned and was the president of the W. A. Thomas Company in Chelsea for almost 20 years until he sold the company in 1989. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Logansport, the Inverness Country Club, a life member of the Masonic Lodge of Chelsea, and Ducks Unlimited. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chelsea. On July 31, 1942, he married Sidney A. Hyman, who preceded him in death on May 28, 2001. Surviving are his wife Sara Jayne (Jones) Marsh of Naples; children Anne (Roger) Hanton of Atlanta, MI and William (Carol) Marsh of Brighton, MI; Three step-daughters, Susie (Dave) Little, Becky (Jim) Kragh and Beth (Terry) Brumett; two brothers Max (Alice) Marsh of Logansport, IN and General Robert T. (Joan) Marsh of Falls Church, VA; four grandchildren, Mark White, Rex Marsh, Joan Parks and Christopher White; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His brothers Jack and Stan Marsh and sister Betty Picha preceded him in death. William G. Smith

Loving husband of Kathleen and loving father to Carmen passed away at home surrounded by his family at the age of 58. He was born the son of Edward F. and Lorraine (Hall) Smith on October 25, 1948 in Long Branch New Jersey. In his younger years he excelled in little league baseball and football, and was a life scout with pack 45 West Branch, New Jersey. Bill was a graduate of West Shore Regional High School and then attended the University of Toledo where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He enjoyed his profession as the Michigan Sales Representative for Henredon and Ralph Lauren Furniture and he also enjoyed serving on the Dexter Township Planning Commission. On February 5, 1971 in Swanton, Ohio he married Kathleen Hudson and she survives. William enjoyed the outdoors, sailing on North Lake and in Florida, he enjoyed hiking, exercising at the Westside Gym and reading about history. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Carmen Smith of Royal Oak, MI; his mother Lorraine Smith of Melbourne, FL; sister Diana Crawford of Vero Beach, FL; niece and nephew Kelly Crawford of Wilmington, DE and Timothy Crawford of AZ. Also surviving is his mother-in-law Eileen M. Hudson of Ann Arbor and his sister-in-law Karen Zammit of Milwaukee, WI. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, December 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell funeral home in Chelsea with Rev. Kathy Schell officiating, a private burial will take place at a later date. Age 58, passed away at his Home on Friday December 1, 2006. He was born on January 15, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Robert Sr, and Frances (Choate) Sloan. Robert was a self employed carpenter and build many houses in the area. A veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army. He was past commander of the Southfield VFW and loved to collect coins. On May 7, 1971 he married Karen L. Blakeney and she survives, also surviving are his mother of Howell, three children, Kelly (Brett) Rousseau of Chelsea, Robert III (Angela) Sloan of Clinton and Stacey (Scott) Morgan of Tecumseh. Two sisters, Rita (Jim) Turner of White Lake, and Cathy (Ed) Nelson of Howell. Seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, One brother Patrick and one sister Susan Sloan. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Rev. Dr. William Turner officiating. Norma Baughan Fetterolf
of Chelsea,
Formerly of Williamston, MI and Ann Arbor

Norma, age 77, died November 29 at Chelsea Community Hospital following a heart attack. A gifted pastel artist whose works hang coast to coast, she graduated from Michigan State University in 1975 (B.S.) after interrupting her studies to raise four children of whom she was very proud; David (Maureen), Bruce, Trudy Eby and Amy Corser (Eric). She leaves five grandchildren: Laura and Sara Fetterolf, Cory Eby and Dante Jones, and Travis Fetterolf; four sisters, Pat Graham (Dale), Susie Cockerill (Russ) and Ginny Cassaday (Tom), Julie Shear (Herb) and a brother, Dean Baughan. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Leona Baughan, and brother Ron, all of Williamston. A graduate of Williamston High School, she attended Alma College and worked at Peoples State Bank before working her way into her junior year at MSU before marrying Carlos Fetterolf of West Hartford, CT, a MSU graduate (M.S.), and moving to TN. The family returned to Williamston in 1958 before moving to the Washington, D.C. area in 1971. The family returned to Williamston in 1973 and moved to the Ann Arbor area in 1975 where Norma worked in real estate. The relocations in 54 years of marriage resulted from following her husband’s career in water quality and fisheries management. Norma was modest and soft-spoken by nature, while at the same time being strong-willed, sure of her convictions and effective in whatever she undertook. Loved and admired by hosts of friends, Norma was elected to the vestries of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, Williamston and St. James’ Episcopal Church, Dexter. She served on many church committees and was active in PTA and 4H, passing on her special talents for cooking, canning and tailoring. Favorite pastimes were touring the world, canoeing Michigan’s rivers, quilting, gardening, painting, playing bridge, relaxing and working at the family’s aptly named cabin (The Remedy) and reveling in family gatherings. The celebration of her life will be at St. James’ Episcopal Church, 3279 Broad St., Dexter, 48130 on Saturday, December 2 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Norma’s memory to the St. James’ Episcopal Church Fund for Education. Loving husband of Debra and loving father to Vanessa and Leah passed away on November 26, in Chelsea at the age of 52. He was born the son of Charles E. Sr. and Charlotte (Williams) Campbell on October 9, 1954 in Huntington, Indiana. On August 3, 1974 he married his high school sweetheart Debra Dowden and she survives. Charles was known as a hardworker that enjoyed working on his house or in his garden. He was very funloving and put the needs of others before his own. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughters Vanessa (Michael) Haight of Minneapolis, MN and Leah Campbell of Stockbridge. Also surviving is his brother Cliff (Debi) Campbell of Waterford, Debra’s parents, Kenneth and Mary Dowden of Hunington, IN and many brother and sister-in-laws as well as nieces and nephews. Luther J. Horn
Of Dansville, MI,

Age 79, passed away Friday November 24, 2006 at W.A. Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. He was born on July 1, 1927 in Magoffin County Kentucky the son of William Sr. and Dora (Patton) Horn. Luther had lived in the area since 1938 coming from Kentucky. He worked for the Oldsmobile car company for 30 years in Lansing. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and a very active member of the Church of Christ in Stockbridge. On September 6, 1952 he married Evagene Fletcher and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2005. Surviving are Four children, Tony Horn of Mesick, Patricia Horn of Dansville, Vicky (Bill) Luppo of Jackson and Phillip Horn of Mesick. Two brothers, William Jr. (Ethel) Horn of Stockbridge, and Bill (Della) Horn of Cooksville, Tenn. Six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by one son, John E. Horn and Three brothers, Clifford, Calvin, and Earmol Horn and one sister, Melva Slayden. Of Chelsea

Age 87, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born the son of the late Frank F. and Mary (Menczan) Berjeski in Smithfield Township, Ohio on March 4, 1919. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus. He was employed by ConRail as an Engineer and retired in 1981. On October 8, 1938 in Adena, Ohio he married Catherine Goldyn, and she survives. Also surviving are his children W. Ronald (Marilynn) Berjeski of Dearborn, Janice (James) Coffman of Stockbridge, and Joan (Russell) Peer of New Baltimore; 20 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Age 77 passed away at Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan on November 19, 2006. He was born the son of Bill and Mintie (Atckins) Thornsbury on March 29, 1929 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, bluegrass music and spending time with his grandchildren. Morton is survived by his children; Charlie (Pam) Thornsbury of Munith; Morton (Brenda) Thornsbury of Leslie; Walter (Pam) Thornsbury of Crosby, Texas; Irene (Alvin) Craft of Pleasant Lake; Karen, Kenny and Mary Thornsbury all of Jackson and Laurie Urbaniak of Rives Junction. Also surviving is a brother, William Jr. of Leslie; four sisters, Becky (Alfred) Rushlow of Detroit; Bethel Bradley of Dansville; Maggie Minix of Jackson and Thelme (Ronald) Rushlow of Leslie. He has 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Jimmy; brothers, Milie and George; and two sisters, Ethel Bradley and Dorothy Bailey. Age 90, passed away Saturday November 18, 2006 at the Chelsea Retirement Community Towsley Village Cottages. She was born on April 6, 1916 in Kayville, Saskatchewan. She was the head pastry cook at Grace Hospital in Toronto, Ohio from 1945 to 1950. Mary also owned and operated a Beauty shop for several years. Crocheting and spending winters in Florida she enjoyed. On February 9, 1935 she married Constantine Apostal and he preceded her in death on December 16, 2006. Surviving are two sons, Peter (Nancy) Apostal of Statesville, NC and Paul (Linda) Apostal of Dexter; two sisters, Ethel Hulmes of Toronto and Sally Alexis of Saskatchewan; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a infant daughter and three brother and five sisters. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Age 78, passed away in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by her family on November 15, 2006. She was born the daughter of Jesse and Violet (Becker) Bugard on May 6, 1928 in Fowlerville, Michigan. On December 28, 1946 she married Kenneth L. Caskey in Fowlerville, and he preceded her in death in 1982. Shirley is survived by her children, Gary Caskey of Charlotte, Rod (Joanne Tadgerson) Caskey of Mason, Christine (Dan) Lowe of Howell, and Maribeth (Wes) Campbell of Hartland, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; also one sister Muriel Epley, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home. At the age 92, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 2006 at the Chelsea Retirement Community Towsley Village. She was born on March 22, 1914 in South Bend, Indiana the daughter of Alexander and Minnie (Fredericks) Griffin and sister of Gerald. After moving to Sylvan Center and working in the family business she met and married George N. Welch on November 9, 1933 and remained in Sylvan until they moved to Florida in 1968. She was an active member of the Salem Grove Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and volunteer. She was a 4-H leader, foster parent and secretary to the Maple Grove Cemetery during her lifetime in the Chelsea area. She loved to travel, read, paint and was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed fishing and hunting and spent times roaming the Sugar Loaf Lake property her father developed. Surviving is, one daughter, Judy A.(Michael) Johns of Saline. Grandchildren: Kenneth M. Johns of Saline and Stacey A. (Jason) Reeves of Ann Arbor and Great Grandchildren, Sonya and Emmett Reeves. A memorial service will be Monday, November 20, 2006 at 2:30 at the Chelsea Retirement Community Towsley Chapel with Rev. Beth Foster officiating. Loving wife of James M. Benedict passed away on Friday, November, 10 at the age of 46. She was born the daughter of James and Annette (Eldrington) Thiellesen on July 29, 1960 in Detroit Michigan. On June 9, 1995 she married James Michael Benedict and he survives. Kim was known as an animal lover as seen by her ’pack of raccoons’ and her pet cats. She was also the protector in the family, and would allow anyone to lean on her for support. She enjoyed traveling to Florida when she was able and also liked to ride Harley’s with Jim and also encouraged him to ride when she was no longer able to go, Kim had a huge heart. In addition to her husband, Kim is survived by her brothers and sisters; Kathy Davenport of Alabama, Annette (Mark) Dickenson of Mio, twin brother, James Thiellesen of New Hudson, John Thiellesen of Toledo, OH, Rene’ (Kirk) Sweet of Northville, Joe (Colleen) Thiellesen of Fenton and many special nieces and nephews. Age 78, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born on June 22, 1928 in Betsy Layne, Kentucky the daughter of John T. and Mary Ethel (Hall) Foley. Madelyn worked for Chelsea Milling for several years then started her own alterations company and operated it out of her home. In 1964 she married Earl D. Stoker in Chelsea and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2005. Surviving are six children, Jim (Kaye) Taylor of Chelsea, Tom Taylor of Chelsea, John (Kathryn) Taylor of Chelsea, Debbie (Rev. Jim) Merrill of Florida, Lisa Bertke of Whitmore Lake, and Valerie (Kent) Mayhall of Texas, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also surviving are two sisters, Lois Walters of Ohio, and Frances (Robert) Patrick of Kentucky as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one daughter in-law Brenda Taylor; one granddaughter, Sarah Taylor; three brothers; and three sisters. As well a several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Wadsworth, and Delma Carpenter, five brothers, Hobert, Homer, Weldon, Willard, and Willis Long. Age 83, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Chelsea Retirement Community, Towsley Village. She was born on December 25, 1922 in Ironwood, Michigan the daughter of George and Suzanna (Kanter) Heczko. Amelia had lived in the area for the past six years coming from New Port Richey, Florida. She enjoyed cooking, her family and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On September 5, 1942 she married Toivo ’Toby’ Johnson, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Toby (Bridget) Johnson of New Zeeland, and Daniel (Gabrielle) Johnson of Rohersville, MD, and one daughter, Pauline (Warren Jr.) Porath of Chelsea; eight grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Porath, Crystal (Steve) Heydlauff, Angela Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Jennifer (Felipe) Lopez, Rick (Mercedes) Johnson, Natalie Johnson, and Tanner Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Michael and Taylor Heydlauff, Kevin and Reece Porath, Chaydin and Jaysha Lopez, and Kaila and Mackenzie Johnson. Age 91, passed away November 1, 2006. She was born February 7, 1915 to Herbert & Blanche (Variell) Wilkinson in Allegan County. She graduated from South Haven High School and Western Michigan University. For six years she taught elementary classes in Dansville Schools and 18 years in Stockbridge, retiring in 1975. She was a member of M.A.R.S.P. and the Millville United Methodist Church. She liked to travel and did so extensively during her early retirement years. The Nelson farm home was often shared on weekends with students who were studying at M.S.U. She is survived by three children, Larry Nelson and Garth Nelson of Dansville, and Signe (Charles) Watson of East Lansing; one brother, Leslie Wilkinson of Fennville; one granddaughter, Callista Watson; many nieces & nephews and a host of former foreign students who will fondly remember her as ’Mom’. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be Monday November 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Millville United Methodist Church with Rev. He was born on August 24, 1954 in Ann Arbor , Michigan the son of George and Jeannette (May) Winans. John worked for Chelsea Community Hospital and recently received a 30 year award for his dedication for his employment. John attended the Chelsea Free Methodist Church, enjoyed playing the drums, was an avid Michigan State fan and always said hello to everyone. Surviving are his parents of Chelsea, two brothers, Curt Winans of Milford, and Rob (Lori) Winans of Chelsea, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Age, 65 passed away October 31, 2006 at his daughters home in Stockbridge, Michigan. He was born on November 3, 1940 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of William and Thelma (Palmer) Reames. He graduated from Dexter high school, and worked for Miller Tool and Die in Jackson and retired 2002 after 15 years. He was a member of Local 435 in Jackson and enjoyed the breakfast Club with his retirees. On September 23, 1959 he married Marilyn F. Flick and she survives. Also surviving are Seven children, Kim (Jim) Hatch of Chelsea, Lucinda Reames of Stockbridge, Kraig Reames of Saline, Jerilyn (Xerxes) Sarkary of Agoura Hills CA, Stephanie (Adam Corcoran) Reames of Chelsea, Jennifer Reames of Chelsea and Jason (Audrey Stratz) Reames of Chelsea. Nine grandchildren, Chad Collins, Melissa Zornow, Veronica Collins, Nicole Rogozinski, Billy Whitehead, Kent Reames, Meghan Reames, Darius Sarkary and Cyrus Sarkary; four great grandchildren Gwen and Jalen Rogozinski and Jackson and Ezra Zornow; eight brothers and sisters, Wiliam Reames of Utah, Carol Harris of Chicago, Dolores (Walt) Freysinger of Chelsea, Theodore (Maria) Reames of Manchester, Edward (Rhonda) Reames of Bradenton, FL, Darlene Utley of Cadillac, Mi., Michael (Kathy) Reames of Dexter,and Sandra Fletcher Of Ann Arbor. Clifford R. Collinsworth
of Chelsea, MI.

Age 20 was defending our country in Ar-Ramadi, Iraq and was killed in the line of Duty on October 21, 2006. He was born on January 22, 1986 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of Donald and Trisha (Steger) Collinsworth. Clifford graduated from Chelsea High School in 2004 and played Football and wrestled. Six days after graduating from High School Clifford enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, NC. He was a member of the Herbert McKune American Legion Post 31 of Chelsea and loved to be with his family and his buddies. Surviving are his parents of Chelsea, sister Melissa (Derek Eaton) Collinsworth of Chelsea, grandparents; Clifford Collinsworth of Chelsea, Mark Steger of Chelsea, Donald (Harriet) Wild of Ann Arbor, and great grandparents, Edward (Jean) Ingalls of Rochester Hills, MI. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles Jeff Steger of Chelsea, Randy (Debbie) Ellis of Chelsea, John (Carrie) Garrison of Hamburg, and Jimmy Collinsworth of Chelsea; as well as, several cousins including Jimmy Collinsworth and Jamie Westcott-Collinsworth. Age 72 died October 17, 2006 at W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was Born on March 5, 1934 in Union City, Tennessee, the daughter of Otto and Susan (Bell) White. She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1952 and received her bachler of science of Nursing at the University of Michigan and received her Masters of psychology from Michigan State University. She was Professor of Nursing at Jackson Community College retiring in December of 1993 after 33 years. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, National League of Nursing and received the J. Ward Preston outstanding faculty Award. Pat was instrumental in starting the LPN and RN programs at Jackson Community College as well as the transfer program of RN nursing thru the University of Michigan. Also a former member of the Chelsea McKune Library Board, and former member of the Chelsea United Way board. There is a room dedicated in her honor at the Jackson Community College for the outstanding care and commitment she gave her students and the entire nursing world, well done Pat. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Entire Staff at Foote Hospital and especially to Karen on the 3rd floor. On April 6, 1968 in Jackson she married Lyle D. Chriswell and he survives. Charles was a car dealer in Jackson for many years and enjoyed the company of friends and had a great faith in God. He served his country honorably in the Korean Conflict and received a purple heart. Age, 79, passed away Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 1, 1927 in Terre Haute, IN the son of Charles and Anna Jacobs. Daniel served our country in World War II in the United States Navy. He enjoyed bowling, watching TV, coaching his children’s sports teams and bragging about his children. Most of all he enjoyed being with his wife Jean. He supported his family in the printing industry prior to his retirement and was known as a leader wherever he worked. Daniel is survived by his loving wife Jean; sons Daniel, Colt, and Ty; daughter Gina, and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Wesley. Loving husband of Barbra passed away at his home on October 12, 2006 at the age of 65. He was born the son of Myles and Martha (Wadkins) Barnett on June 5, 1941 in Salyersville, Kentucky. James was known to all as a loving father and grandpa. He loved being outside with his kids and grandkids especially for auctions and the fair. In the family, he was known as the peacemaker and was very giving of his time. James enjoyed hunting, talking on the phone with his brothers and sisters and going out to eat. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Sheila (Brian) Rogers of Hanover, Michael and Trevor Barnett along with Trevor, Joshua, and Star. Loving husband of Susan and loving father of Christopher passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital on Saturday, October 7, 2006. He was born the son of Francis and Frances (Ferrier) DeRosia on December 20, 1944. On June 19,1982 he married Susan Geer in Kensington, MD at the Washington Temple. Kenneth was an avid crafter of plastic stitch tote bags, enjoyed watching and listening to old movies, and special shopping trips with his son Christopher. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Odd Fellows, Harmony Rebekah Lodge in Dexter. Kenneth is also survived by his brothers Dennis (Jan) DeRosia of South Lyon and Tom (Lee) DeRosia of Freedom, PA; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m. with Ed Beckstein officiating at the Chelsea Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints. Brian W. Heeney

Age 22, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006. He was born April 14, 1984 in Jackson, Michigan the son of William and Carrie (Stephens) Heeney. Brian had lived in the Stockbridge area all of his life. He graduated from Stockbridge High School in 2002 and worked for Dart Container in Mason. Brian was known to all as the ’wild child’. He loved anything with four wheels and a motor. He loved racing cars, and raced with the family racing team, Heeney Racing. He also loved snowmobiling, fishing and golfing. Brian is survived by his parents, of Stockbridge, his sister Tracey Heeney and her fiancee Tom Hernly, of Lansing, his paternal grandmother, Juanita Heeney, of Stockbridge, his maternal grandparents, Velton (Ima)Stephens, of Munith, his aunts and uncles: Sandra (Pat) Clark and Margie (Dan) Clark, all of Munith, Connie (Todd) Lee, of Scottsdale, Arizona, Richard (Laura) Stephens, of Texas, Velton Jr. (Sue) Stephens, of Munith, Jim (Tammie) Heeney, of Stockbridge, also several cousins, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Cox. His tragic death was also shared with his cousin, Bradley Clark. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Heeney Sr. Funeral Services for Brian will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church in Bunker Hill, with Fr. Michael Petroski and Fr. Eugene Beiter con-celebrating. The family will receive friends at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Monday from 2-4 p.m., then at the church on Monday from 6-8 p.m. with Vigil services at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Spartan Speedway in memory of Brian W. Keith I. McKimmy Sr.
of Stockbridge, MI

Age 71, passed away Monday evening October 2, 2006 at his home.Under the care of his family,and Arbor Hospice, He was born on March 4, 1935 in Lansing , Michigan the son of Clarence and Claire (Crawford) McKimmy. Keith had lived in the area since 1966 and was employed by Capital Asphalt for many years. He enjoyed Bowling, Out doors, and most of all his family and grandchildren. On July 7, 1968 he married Joyce A.Fletcher in Temperance, MI, and she survives. Also surviving are four children, Rickie McKimmy of Fraser,Terri (Gerald) Fletcher of Grass Lake, Christine (Ralph) Sally of Stockbridge, and Daryl (Andrea) McKimmy of Stockbridge; one sister Patricia Fee of Lansing; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Keith I. Mckimmy II,David McKimmy,Ronnie McKimmy; one Great granddaughter, Morgan Lynn McKimmy; three brothers, Donald, Robert, and Frederick Fillingham, and two sisters, Janet Glasscock, and Marilyn Lance. Robert D. Ball Sr.
Of Chelsea. MI

Age 65, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Saline Evangelical Home after a four year long illness. He was born on August 8, 1941 the son of Dale H. and Alberta Hepburn. Robert had lived in the area all his life. He worked for Rockwell International in Chelsea for 20 years, farmed for several years and retired from Huron Clinton Metropolitan Authority in 2002. In January of 1962, he married Margaret A. Simpson in Ann Arbor, and she survives. He liked classic cars, hunting and fishing. At a very young age he was adopted and raised by his grandparents Rose and (Zink) Ball. After the death of his mother in 1967, he helped raise some of his younger siblings. After the death of his sister Roseanne Gimmey in 1977, he helped raise her son. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, brothers, Duffield and Edward; sister, Dorothy Hunawill, and his oldest son Robert D. Ball Jr. Surviving are his children, Elizabeth Ball of Chelsea, Shawn (Bill) Mikkelson of Dexter, William (Shasey) Ball of Chelsea; daughter-in-law Eileen Ball of Chelsea; and several nieces and nephews, including Robert Gimmey; grandchildren, R. Dale Ball III, Chance Mikkelson, Andrea Ball, Tyler Ball, and Matthew McCormick; brothers, David Ball of Clarmont NC, Richard (Sandra) Ball of Grass Lake, Thomas Ball of Tallahassee, FL, Michael (Beverly) Slane of Chelsea, and Charles Slane of Jackson; sisters, Mary Schiller of Chelsea, Rose (John) Goebel of Williamsville, MO, and Mary Gaken of Chelsea. Donald M.Hanselman

Age 84, passed away October 1 at his home in Jackson. He was born August 3, 1922 in Cambria Township, MI, a 1941 Hillsdale H.S. graduate, a WWII veteran, and retiree of Walker. He enjoyed fishing, and visiting with friends and family. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Mark and Mildred (Kuhn) Hanselman and son, Greg Hanselman. He is survived by: two sisters, Joyce (John) Huggett, and Phyllis (Melvin) Daglow; three daughters, Candace Jackson of Coldwater, Priscilla Dalton, and Shirley (James) Taylor of Munith; eight grandchildren, Michael (Leah) Dalton of Stockbridge, Amber (Travis) Collins, Greg Dalton, Shayla Dalton, Brad Dalton, Josh Smith, Crystal Smith, and Jena Smith, all of Munith: and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends, Kenneth and Margie Adkins, Richard and Jackie Mays, and John and Pat Buksar. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 7 at the American Legion, Rose City Post, in Michigan Center from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Castle officiating. Kenneth G. Boritzki

Age 48, died unexpectedly at his home on October 2, 2006. He was born March 23, 1958 in Trenton, Michigan, the son of Gerald and Mary (Dunlap) Boritzki. He had lived in the Whitmore Lake area for the past 11 years, moving from Pinckney. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1976. Ken was a member of the Unadilla Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and motorcycles, and was an avid U of M fan. He is survived by his two children, Kalynn and Kenneth ’Luke’ Boritzki of Pinckney; his mother Mary Darlene Boritzki of Gregory; two sisters Kaye (Bob) Frensley of Nashville, TN, and Diane (Cooper) Wood of Franklin, TN, and Jim (Debbie) Boritzki of Chelsea; also two nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1999. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, with Rev. John Qiu officiating. Burial will follow at the Unadilla Cemetery. Steven F. Gross
Of Baldwin
Formerly of Ann Arbor

Age 50 passed away at home in Baldwin on September 17, 2006. Steve was born on January 11, 1956 in Ann Arbor MI to Frank C. and Jutta M. (Gahlow) Gross. Graduating in 1974 from Manchester High School, Steve excelled as an athlete in three sports wrestling, football, and baseball. After high school, Steve worked with his brother. He then became a licensed builder and had his own business. Steve then changed careers to owner/operator for Mayflower Transit. His final employment was managing Ivan’ Marquette Camp in Baldwin. Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing golf. Steve is survived by his mother Jutta Gross of Clayton MI, formerly of Ann Arbor; brother Richard (Nancy) Gross of Ann Arbor; sister Renee (John) Weidmayer of Clayton MI; and brother in law Brett Fischbach of Baldwin, MI. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Kenneth (Lisa) Gross and their children Tyler and Ryan Gross; Richard Scott Gross; Nicole, Shelly, and Jeremiah Weidmayer; aunt Rita (Ray) Parsons; cousins Jeff Parsons and Margie Schiller and their families, along with many good friends. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank Sr. and Addie Gross; grandmother Ella R Gross; father Frank C. Gross Jr.; sister Jennifer L. Fischbach; uncle Robert P. Gross, and his much loved German Shepherd, Fritz. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2006. Cora I. Hoffman
of Gregory, MI

Age 82, passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 at her home. She was born on December 26, 1923 in Franklin, North Carolina, the daughter of Elisha and Millie (Blackburn) Fox. Cora had lived in the Gregory area since 1949 and enjoyed listening to Gospel Music and watching westerns. She especially enjoyed her dog Rosie and her family. On January 26, 1946 she married William C. Hoffman and he preceded her in death on January 30, 1999. Surviving are three children, Robert (Jeanne) Hoffman of Gregory, Barbara Taylor of Stockbridge, and Evelyn (Lewis) Daniels of Gregory; eight grandchildren, Stacy Tatman, Dawn Risner, Michael, Jeff, Craig, and Ryan Hamlin, Jill Perkins, and Marianne Pratt; 11 great grandchildren as well as one brother Weaver Fox of Franklin North Carolina. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter; Betty, four sisters and five brothers; her son-in-law Tom Hamlin and her grandson-in-law Anthony Perkins. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge with Rev. Robert Castle officiating. Merle L. Davis, age 90 of Chelsea, died September 29, 2006, at the Chelsea Retirement Community. He was born August 15, 1916, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Ferol Davis. He married Stella Johnson July 20, 1940.
Merle spent most of his career working in purchasing for Montgomery Ward in Chicago. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Before his retirement, he worked for the Wickes Corporation as vice president of the wholesale kitchen cabinet division. He and Stella lived in Blue Island, Illinois, where Merle served in leadership roles at the First United Methodist Church, on the library board, the school board, and in the Boy Scout program. He and his wife moved to Chelsea in 1983 to be near their family. Merle was involved in the Kiwanis Club, and he was an active member of Chelsea First United Methodist Church. He faithfully served Chelsea Community Hospital as a volunteer for fourteen years. Merle and his wife moved to the Chelsea Retirement Community in 1996. Throughout his life, Merle was dedicated to his family, his church, and his community. Merle was preceded in death by parents John and Ferol Davis, stepmother Carolyn Davis, brother Glen Davis and sister Helen Sunter. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Stella (Johnson) Davis; his sister, Miriam Green; children, Barbara (Ed) Brown, Chelsea, Michigan, John (Cheryl) Davis, Seattle, Washington, and Robert (Alison) Davis, Laguna Beach, California; grandchildren, Heidi Pearson, Christy Frederick, Tracy Davis, Allison Vanderspool, Erik Brown, Cameron Davis and Conor Davis; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel on Sunday, October 1, from 3-5 P.M. and at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. The funeral will be on Tuesday, October 3, at 1:00 P.M. at the Chelsea First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joy Barrett and Rev. Beth Foster officiating. Lyn Yarows
of Dexter

Beloved wife of Steven A. Yarows, M.D. and dear mother of twin children Kevin E. and Kristen C. Yarows, died Tuesday morning, September 26, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 2, 1955, the daughter of Edward J. and Wilma Worden. Lyn moved to Michigan in 1980 to continue her nursing career and shortly after married Steve in Dexter on September 22, 1984. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter where she had been a religious education teacher and mentor. Lyn will be remembered as an active community volunteer and a proud member of the Steeler Nation. Currently, Lyn was serving on the Boards of the J.C. Banfield Foundation and the Education Foundation of Dexter. Surviving are her siblings Suzanne (Bob) Fagan of Wildwood, New Jersey, Kathy (Mike) Gandley of Ypsilanti, Bernard Worden, and Ed (Debbie) Worden of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by nephews Jesse Gandley and Daniel Schurgin. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Marguerite Worden. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dexter, with Rev. Brendan J. Walsh and Rabbi Robert Levi officiating. The family will receive friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, 901 North Main Street, Chelsea on Wednesday from 6-8p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. with the Wake at 7:00 p.m. Friends will also be received at the church on Friday from 9:00am until 10:00. Florence M. Gentner
Of Saline, formerly of
Chelsea, MI.


Age 101, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Saline Evangelical Home. She was born on July 29, 1905 in Lima Township the daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle (Kraft) Abdon. Florence took great pride in her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to travel. She and her husband Floyd and the family visited many states of the union, using all modes of transportation, automobiles, trains, plane and boat. She enjoyed visiting one of her favorite destinations, Hawaii, several times, as well as a trip to Switzerland, France, and Germany. Her hobbies included reading, and caring for her many houseplants and garden flowers, and she never turned down an opportunity to go shopping. She was a life long member of the First Congregational Church of Chelsea and was married in the church parsonage on May 8, 1925. Other than a brief period in Dexter and Ann Arbor following her marriage, Florence spent her entire life in Chelsea. She enjoyed visiting other parts in the world, but always was pleased to return to her home and family in Chelsea. In February 2004, Florence moved from her home in Chelsea to the Saline Evangelical Home. On July 28, 2005 a party was held at the Saline Evangelical Home to honor Florence on her 100th birthday. The party, attended by 30 friends and family members, was a huge success. Florence enjoyed the festivities and even wore a Tiara given to her by one of her granddaughters. In July 2006 , a small party was held in honor of her 101st birthday, and yes, she even blew out all the candles. Surviving are three sons, Ronald (Nancy) Gentner of Stockbridge, Duane (Carole) Gentner of Parker, CO, and Terry Gentner of Chelsea, one brother Robert Abdon of Chelsea, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Gentner on September 6, 1983, four sisters, Oleta Abdon, Ethel Abdon, Elnora Wright, and Nell Pierce, also two brothers, Richard Abdon and Russell Abdon. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Rev. Dr. Barbara Wright officiating. Janet Kay Taylor
Of Gregory, Michigan

Age 65, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born October 11, 1940 in Jackson Michigan, daughter of Kenneth and Myrtle (Little) Mushbach. She had many joys in life, her grandchildren were a huge part of that. You were sure to find her enjoying the 4-H fair, along with cheering her children and grandchildren on at their sporting events. She enjoyed working on her crossword puzzles and found humor in watching game shows. She will forever be known as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Janet married Joe E. Taylor on October 6, 1962 in Munith Michigan, and he survives. Also surviving are her children, Julie Jo Wilson, Jeff J. (Tammy) Taylor of Dexter, Jonathon J. (Amy) Taylor of Gregory, Jake J. (Christy) Taylor of Munith, and Jodi J. Taylor of Gregory. In addition, she has ten grandchildren surviving; Amanda, Jennifer, Jordyn, Jeanni, Katie, Courtney, Emalie, Breanna, Collin and Jessica. Fred J. Schaff

Age 92, died on Saturday, September 16, 2006. He was born January 14, 1914 in St. Louis Missouri, the son of Fred and Terrsa (Stanks) Schaff. He enjoyed golf, carving and bowling. He was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing and loved swing music. He was a quiet man with a great sense of wit. In 1981 he married Mavis Glenn in Ann Arbor, MI and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Fred (Paula) Schaff of Florida, Glenna (Jerry) Runciman of Stockbridge, and Ed (Linda Hoffman) Simonds of Stockbridge, three grandchildren,10 great grandchildren and his niece Connie Harry. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his first wife Marian, two sisters, Helen Clark and Margaret Wiselogle, and a grandson Tom Schaff. David A. Greenamyer
of Stockbridge Township, Michigan

Age 83, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at his farm under the loving care of his family. He was born December 19, 1922 in Chicago Illinois, the son of Elmer and Ella Greenamyer. He loved farming, his family and the outdoors. He was a long time member of the MMPA, Farm Bureau and the NRA. He married Marjorie Cowing on January 20, 1946 and she preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Greenamyer is survived by his children, Bonnie Miller of Kalamazoo, Terry (Douglas) Sommer of Stockbridge, and Kelley Greenamyer of Pleasant Lake; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his two older sisters, Margaret Greenamyer and Gertrude Troupe. Delores J. Carroll
Of Munith, MI

Age 64, passed away at her sister’s home on Sunday, September 10, 2006. She was born October 20, 1941 in Magoffin County Kentucky, the daughter of Claud and Bertie (Sparks) Risner. She had lived in the area since she was seven years old. On June 20, 1960 she married Lowrensa D. Carroll in Bunker Hill, and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Holly (Brad) Smith of Stockbridge, and Checotah (Kevin) Theaker of Munith; also nine siblings: Jimmy Risner of Munith, Annabell (Willard) Howard, Jerry (Cheryl) Risner, Paul (Connie) Risner, Ellen (Gordon) Craft, Barb Risner, and Vivian Risner, all of Stockbridge, Carolyn (Elbert) Owens of S. Milford, IN, and Richard (Nadine) Risner, of Dansville; also four grandchildren one sister-in-law Curlean (Jerry) Wilson of Jackson. Delores graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1960 and furthered her education at Jackson Community College earning her degree in Business Administration. Delores worked for Western Stamping and retired from DANA Corporation in Chelsea after 30 years. She enjoyed garage sales, golf, and sewing, making all of her kid’s clothes. She loved spending time with her look a-like sister Annabell and the ’beauty shop tales’ on Saturdays. She loved going to church, and attended the Good Shepherd Mission, as well as the Gregory Family Tabernacle Church. She especially liked Gospel music and sang with the Gloryland singers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Betty Risner, and a great-niece Kalyn. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with Parson Billy Allen, Dennis Courter and Jeff Howard co-officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Stockbridge. Age, 64, passed away Thursday September 7, 2006 at her home. She was born on May 4, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Clifford and Margaret (Bordine) Thompson. She had lived in the area for the past 30 years coming from Plymouth. She was involved with the Chelsea Painters, and was active in the Unadilla Presbyterian Church. Flowers, gardening yellow roses and her grandchildren she truly loved. On September 21, 1960 she married her true love Joseph S. Sysol in Redford Township, and he survives. Also surviving are three sons, John (Maggie) Sysol of Adrian, Jeff (Karen) Sysol of Michigan Center and James (Amy) Sysol of Michigan Center, one daughter Jodi (Thomas) McCoy of Manchester, two sisters, Diane Hartwick of Livonia and Cheryl (Dave) Redoutey of Holly, Mi., 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also several nieces and nephews and special friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday September 11, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from the Unadilla Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Qiu officiating. Age 62 died at Toledo Hospital on Friday, September 1, 2006. She was born in Jeff, Kentucky on January 1, 1944 to Troy and Mary (Lyttle) Tincher. On February 27, 1965 she married Ronald J. Martin and he survives. Audrey enjoyed playing cards and going to the casinos especially in January for her ’Girls Trip’. She was a member of the Ypsilanti OES, a past Mother Advisor of the Rainbow and loved playing video games with her grand kids. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Mary (John) Thompson of Adrian, William Martin of Tecumseh, Buffy Kazmierczack of Tecumseh; her brothers and sisters; Sandy (Errol) Schuman of Clayton, MI, Sheila Hall of Tecumseh, and Randy (Lori) Tincher of Dundee, MI. Audrey is also survived by 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Scott Martin; daughter-in-law Lisa Martin and baby TJ; brother Roger Tincher and nephew Duane Schuman. Age 77, passed away Sunday August 27, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital. She was born on June 17, 1929 in Stockbridge, Michigan the daughter of Erwin and Bernita (Beaman) Nott. She was a 50 plus year member of Ss Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church and 25 year 4-H leader. On July 1, 1946 she married James J. McCann and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1999. Surviving are, one son Dennis (Tina) McCann two daughters, Linda (Terry) Ream and Karen (Jim) Norris all of Leslie. Also survivng are seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; inaddition two brothers Robert Nott of Munith, Rick (Jan) Nott of Gregory, and one sister-in-law Ruth Nott. She was also preceded in death by one brother Richard Nott and her parents. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM. From Ss Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church with Rev. Age 89, passed away Friday August 18, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. She was born on August 5, 1917 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky the daughter of Tipton and Susan (Turner) Collins. She had lived in the area since 1958 coming from Louisville, KY. Favorite pastimes were Reading and her grandchildren. Surviving are six children, Scotty (Cindy) Collins of Florida, Norma (David) Hanson of Mason, Linda (Gary) Baldwin of Stockbridge, Tresia Thurman of Litchfield, Ronald Wright of Florida, and Michael Steven Wright of Jackson. also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Wright in 1988 two sisters and one brother. Passed away August 17, 2006 at home, at the age of 71, due to a 17 year fight with Parkinson’s. He was preceded in death by his father William Hicks and mother Elsie (Hale) Hicks, two brothers, Jesse and Jackey and one sister, Gracie. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita, his daughters, Gail (Jim) Wright of Munith, Tina (Patrick) Clifford of Clinton Twp., his sons, William (Janet) Hicks of Munith, Thomas Hicks of Munith, Michael (Lisa) Hicks of Pleasant Lake, 12 grandchildren, James III & Megan Wright, Ashley, Amber & Andrea Clifford, William Jr., Anthony (Tony), Jamie, Crystal & Joey Hicks, Ashley & Leah Hicks, and one great-granddaughter Katelynn. He is also survived by his 5 brothers Kenneth, Walter, Rheuben, Estill and Clark. He was a dedicated employee of Goodyear for 30 years. He was a much loved husband, fathers, grandfather, great- grandfather and brother, and he will be greatly missed by all. May God hold him in His loving hands to love and protect him until we are reunited in heaven. Age 88, passed away Thursday evening August 17, 2006 at her daughter’s home. She was born on February 7, 1918 in Iosco, Township, the daughter of Martin and Elva (Caskey) Anderson. Doris owned and operated Gregory Beauty Salon for nearly 50 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pinckney and enjoyed traveling, quarter horses and her grandchildren. On September 27, 1947 she married John ’Jake’Donohue, and he preceded her in death in October of 1996. Surviving are her daughter Judy (Robert) Williams of Gregory, six grandchildren, John (Rachel) Sweet, Patrick (Teri) Sweet, Michael (Jessica) Sweet, Shon (Sarah) Williams, Scott (Laurie) Williams and Robin Williams, and 9 great grandchildren. One brother, Robert Anderson of Webberville, and three sisters Sena Anderson of Owosso, Elizabeth Presinger of Mason and Alberta Holbrock of Owosso. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Donohue in 1968, and two brothers, Clayton Anderson and M.G. Anderson. (Penny) Carpenter of Florida, and Larry (Vera) Carpenter of Jackson. George Edward Hardy

Age 82 died at the Sunrise Care Facility in Ann Arbor on August 4, 2006. HE was born the son of Webster and Leah (Green) Hardy on June 16, 1924 in Ypsilanti, MI. On December 29, 1944 he married Maxine J. Borusch and she survives. Mr. Hardy worked at Paul C. Chapman and Son in Ypsilanti for 35 years. In 1988 he and Maxine moved to Lincoln. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family. Along with his wife he is survived by his children; Judy (Bruce) Park of Chelsea, Janice Coon of Ann Arbor, Jim Hardy of Ann Arbor, and Jane Wollard of Ypsilanti. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Robert (Theresa) Coon Sr., Michael Park, Jennifer (Dr. Julius) Few, Heather (Jeff) Gauntlett, Lisa (Derrick) Dabbs, Jack Coon Jr., and Zac Coon; great grandchildren Robert Coon, Kaden Coon and Miles Few. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters; Clark (Delphine) Hardy John (Margaret) Hardy and Clifford (Carol) Hardy; his sister Nelva Whitt and his sister-in-law Beualah Hardy. George was preceded in death by his parents and brother Edgar Hardy. At the request of George and his family cremation has taken place with a private family service. Michigan Hospital. He was born May 29, 1961 in Royal Oak, Michigan.

The son of Anthony M. and Nancy J. (Judy) Godin Bach. Mark is survived by his wife JoAnn M. Kassmann, whom he married in Chelsea on June 21,

1996. Mark had been a resident of Chelsea for the past ten years. Mr. Bach was the manager for inside sales at KSS Enterprises in Jackson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and antique boating. NASCAR and his computer were favorite pastimes. Mark was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea. Surviving in addition to his wife, are two children Angie Bach and Anthony Bach of Dexter; his parents of Troy, Michigan; his brother Mike (Ellen) Bach of Chelsea, two sisters; Margaret Bach of Troy, Michigan and Mary Alice (Dave) Misz of Sterling Heights; five nephews and one niece. Also surviving are his mother and father in law, Joe and Ann Kassmann of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Mark’s former wife Diane Bach of Dexter. The funeral mass will be held Friday August 4, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner officiating. The Vigil will be held Thursday Aug. 3 at 8:00 PM at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home; where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Verna Rena Marshall

Passed away July 29, 2006 in Lansing at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Lela Sharland, her husband Stanley Marshall, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Philip) Fanson, sons Robert (Louise) and Dorwin (Rosalie) Marshall all of Stockbridge. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. Age 56, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. He was born on October 21, 1949 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of Harry Jr. and Marjorie (Umstead) Burnett. Harry was a truck driver for R&L Carriers for 13 years retiring in 2001. He loved hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. On December 26, 1971 he married Deborah A. Williams in Dexter and she survives. Also surviving are his mother of Jackson and his father of Florida, four children, Jason Burnett of Michigan, Heather (Steve) Bohnette of Milan, Harry Burnett IV of Chelsea, and Beth (Jason) Hewitt of Chelsea, one brother, Tony (Laura) Burnett of Florida, and one sister, Tamie Petty of Jackson, MI, four grandchildren, Devin, Cody, Morgan, and Kyle. Sister and brother-in-laws, Sherry (Bruce) Parks of Ann Arbor, and Brent Williams of Ann Arbor, and Steve Williams of Saline. Several nieces and nephews and cousins. Also special friends Robert ’Bud’ and Joyce Freysinger. Passed away at home under the loving care of her family and Great Lakes Hospice Monday July 24, 2006 at the age of 84. She was born on April 17, 1922 in Salyersville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Newton and Emily Marshall Cole, both of Kentucky where 13 children were born of this union of which 11 are deceased. Zorri is survived by a brother Elmer Cole and a sister Shug Cole, both of Kentucky. Zorri is also survived by numerous half sisters and brothers. She married Orville Hughes on May 23, 1936. They were married for 43 years. Orville preceded her in death on August 9, 1979. She married Homer Fletcher on November 21, 1980. They were married for 15 years. Homer preceded her in death on August 6, 1995. Zorri is survived by seven children, a son Paul (Jody) Hughes of Dolan Springs, AZ; daughter Pearl (John) Sparks of Kingman, Arizona; daughter Cinda (Keith) Patrick of Jackson, Michigan; daughter Thelma (Colbert) Smith of Stockbridge, Michigan; daughter Ruth (Harold) Brown of Parma, Michigan; daughter Kathy (Bob) Stone of Leslie, Michigan; daughter Jody (Steve) Poe of Jackson, Michigan. Zorri is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,four grandchildren; Arlene Marie Pickard, Phillip Wayne Hughes, Derek Shane Smith and Brian Keith Patrick and two great-grandchildren; Nicole Marie Kirk and Thomas Keith Hackworth. She has been a member of The Church of Christ for 70 years. Her love of God has always been an inspiration for her family. She loved spending time with her children and numerous grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and spending time with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was such a compassionate soul that wherever she went, she was well-loved. Age 57, died unexpectedly Saturday July 22, 2006 at her home of natural causes. She was born July 5, 1949 in Tecumseh, Michigan, the daughter of Elwyn R. and Vonda L. (Dresselhouse) Schiller. Lucy graduated form Central Michigan University in 1971 and lived in the Bay City area from 1971-1995. She had taught school there and was also a former executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Midland and Caro. From 1995 until her death she was employed at the University of Michigan. Lucy received her masters degree in 2000 from U of M and at the time of her death was a resource librarian in pediatric research at the University. Lucy loved to work in flower gardens. She was artistic and enjoyed stained glass, countedcross stitch and glass bead jewelry and was an accomplished web designer. Surviving are her mother of Gregory, a sister and three brothersAudie M. Hampshire of Portland, Ore., Charles M. Schiller of Pinckney, Neil (Diane) Schiller of Bloomingdale, Mi., and LeRoy (Dawn) Schiller of Rives Junction, nieces and nephews Steve, Andrea, Jessica, Monica, Zack and Parker and several great nieces and nephews. An adopted sister Rosie Blackwell of Waterloo. Also surviving is her canine companion Molly and feline companions Jasper and Nudge. Lucy was preceded in death by her father in 2004. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 26 at 6:00 PM at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Kathy Schellofficiating. Jerry Lee Beauchamp


Jerry, age 62 passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born June 13, 1944 in Columbia, Tennessee, the son of Ted Beauchamp and Aline (Beauchamp) Dixon. After graduating from Stockbridge High School in 1962 he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Sawyer Air Base near Marquette, MI. Jerry was an excavation contractor and restorer of antique tractors, he owned and operated M0-Ex Corp. in Punta Gorda for many years. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Sutton) Beauchamp, his mother, Aline (Lacerne) Dixon, of Munith, MI., his sister, Nina (Lee) Redinger of Wausau, WI, a daughter and son, Gigi (Randy) Kangas and Heath Beauchamp both of Nagaunee, MI. and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Bettye Beauchamp. Service arrangements are being handled by the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday 6 - 8 p.m. and the service will be at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Duane Errol Schuman

Age 35, passed away July 19, 2006. He was born August 11, 1970 to Sandy and Errol Schuman and they survive. He is the cherished husband of Tonya and the beloved Father and ’Best Bud’ of Colin and Carson and son-in-law of Michael and Lynda Horvath. Duane is a veteran of the Marine Corp who served in Desert Storm. He was a 1989 graduate of Belleville High School and was employed by Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed Michigan football, fishing, and time with his family. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his devotion to his family. Duane is also survived by his grandparents Earl & Louise Schuman, Grandmother Larinda Ritter, Sister Angie (Dennis Lolley) Schuman, Brothers-in-law Michael (Robin) Horvath, Bryan (Michelle) Horvath, Brad Horvath, Sister-in-law Renee (Mark) LeClair, many Aunts and Uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his long time best friend Matt Berry.
