Christopher Lee Salyers

Age 38, of Rives Junction suddenly was taken from his loved ones. He was born on September 7th of 1967, the sixth child of Silas and Dixie Salyers of Stockbridge. He is survived by his brothers (Silas)Randy, Rickie, Wesley, Kelvin, Greggory & Shawn. He was preceded in death by all of his grandparents. Chris was a hard working child that grew up enjoying boxing, weightlifting, fishing and most of all spending time with his friends. He is survived by his best friend of 18 years, his wife Deborah Sue Salyers(Flum), who he married August 24, 1996. Heis also survied by his 2 sons, Christopher Michael and Brandon Lee Andrew. He became disabled while working at Marshal Brass, and was no longer able to work. His wife is an employee at the post office in Rives Junction as a mail carrier. He was a good husband and father with many talents which he taught his sons. Chris passed away June 15th 7:37 PM at Foote Hospital.. He was loved by everyone he knew and will be terribly missed. Viewing will be at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, 424 E. Main Street, Stockbridge, Michigan 49285 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday June 20, 2006 with services to be held at 11:00 AM Wesnesday, June 21, 2006. Final resting place will be at Draper Cementery, Rives Juntion Road, Rives Junction, Michgan. Age 50 died on Saturday, June 17 from injuries sustained from a horse ridding accident. She was born the daughter of Larry and Georginna (Alderfer) Kanouse on August 5, 1955 in Plymouth, Indiana. On June 11, 1983 she married Robert C. Hunsberger in Bristol, IN and he survives. Kristine loved ridding horses, reading and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children; Amy (Richard) Gillespie of Aruba, Casey (Carie) Johnson of Columbia City, IN, Jill Stoffer of Elkhart, IN, and David (Katie) of Stockbridge, MI. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren with another two on the way and her brother Rick (Brandy) Kanouse of Rochester, IN. Private graveside services will be held in Plymouth Indiana. Gregory Allen Stull
Of Rives Junction

Age 35 died unexpectedly on June 6, 2006. He was born the son of Robert M. and Denise C. (Joseph) Stull on November 15, 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia and they survive. Greg loved serving his county. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Gulf War in Operation Desert Shield and Storm. He also served in the United States Army for a period of three years and was also a Reservist for a period of two years before leaving the military to work as a machinist for Federal Screw in Chelsea. Greg’s greatest love was for his two children Samantha and Billy and they survive him as well. In addition to his parents from Rives Junction and his two children he is survived by his brother Robert Jr. (Jeanette) Stull of Jackson, Many Aunts and Uncles as well as the mother of his children Angie Thomas and her family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to his children’s educational fund.
Georg(Bill)W. Meyer
of Stockbridge, MI

Age 87, died June 4, 2006 at University of Michigan Hospital. He was born March 13, 1919 the son of William H. and Alta B. (Bullis) Meyer in Detroit, MI. Bill grew up in Pinckney on the family farm and was involved in the family business of hauling livestock to Detroit and hauling milk to Twin Pines Farm Dairy. Bill had one of the first Bulk Milk Trucks in Southern Michigan. He was a machinist in various manufacturing plants, Chelsea, Jackson and Pinckney. He also worked for the Ingham Co. Road Commission, as well as the State of Michigan for the Department of Transportation, where he was instrumental in designing the highway striping machine. Bill was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army landing in Germany during WWII. Bill was a member of the Stockbridge American Legion, and the Masonic Lodge. Upon retirement he was proficient in fixing air conditioning in his garage of which there was always a car, truck, tractor or refrigerator to be looked at, however, when it came October he would head for Florida to bask in the sun. Bill married Mary Otwell, and from that union was a son Dell William Meyer. On November 3, 1944 he married Doris L. Moeckel Phipps in Little Rock, Arkansas, and from that union was two daughters, B. Carroll Phipps Meyer Hatt of Chelsea, and Darlene H. Meyer of Ann Arbor, and a son Barry William (Diane) Meyer of Jackson, three grandchildren Shelly L Robbins, Colleen M. Hatt, and Barry Wm. Meyer II, and three great-grandchildren Cody Robbins, Sheri Robbins, and Robert D. Hatt. On July 19, 1996 Bill married Rosemarie (Higley) Kothe, who has three children, Keith (Sherry) Kothe, Greg (Meggan) Kothe, and Karen Kothe (Raymond Vallejo), five grandchildren Bernie, Lana, Christian, Jennifer, and Daniell, and two great-grandchildren Jade and Lela. He is also survived by two sisters, Willa Lamb of Ann Arbor, and Megan Atlee of Virginia, and two brothers Garth Meyer of Houghton Lake, and James E. Meyer of Pinckney. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, his second wife, Doris, a great-granddaughter Shelby Robbins, and a brother, Marc E. Meyer. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Henning officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Mackinder Glenn American Legion.
Carlolyn R. Trapp

Age 81, passed away Saturday June 3, 2006 at the Jackson Clinical Care Link. She was born on October 11, 1924 in Waterloo Township the daughter of Emra and Clara (Mollenkoph) Tisch. She was a life long residence, and a long member of St. Jacob Luther Church WELS of Grass Lake. She enjoyed Gardening, Flowers,Travel Channel,Ice Skating, and helping out with the Dewey School Days and the Waterloo Farm days. She graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1942. On September 1944 she married Frank A. Trapp and he preceded her in death in 2000. Surviving are 2 brother-in-laws Raymond Wilcox and Donald Wild both of Stockbridge. 2 sister-in-laws Ruth Tisch of Jackson, and Harriet Trapp of Stockbridge. Several nieces and nephews including Betty Ackley of Jackson and Leona Tisch of Grand Rapids. She was also preceded in death by 1 sister, Wilma Rose and 1 brother Wilbur Tisch. Funeral services will be Tuesday June 6, 2006 at 10:00 AM. From the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Stockbridge with Pastor Scott A. Schwertfeger officiating. Age 95, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2006. She was born on February 14, 1911 in Jamboree, Kentucky the daughter of Jordon and Maggie (Mandel) West. She had lived in the Stockbridge Area since 1937, moving from Kentucky. She loved to sew, making beautiful quilts. She also loved to work, especially on the farm. She liked walking and loved to dance. She is survived by two sisters Frances (Richard) Bauer of Chelsea, and Phoebe Turner of Chelsea, and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jo Anne Arnett also of Chelsea. Funeral services will be held at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with Parson Billy Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family.

Age 58, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on January 31, 1948 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of Henry and Edna (Cohen) Gomberg. He enjoyed toy trains, camping and photography. He was an electrician for Local 252 for several years. On March 12, 1977, he married Pamela L. Aldrich, and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Stephanie (Joe Dinkel) Gomberg, one brother, Richard (Sara) Gomberg , his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janet (Ernest) Aldrich , two step-brothers, Stephen Lisanski, and Eugene (Daisy) Lisanski, step sister, Judith (Larry Hunter) Lananski. Four nieces, Ilsa Luna-Flores, Tatianna Gomberg, Jennifer and Laura Aldrich, three nephews Nick (Michelle) Aldrich, Jason, and Scott Aldrich. One brother-in-law Tim (Sherry) Aldrich. Grandparents, June Koch, Doris (Forrest) Halladay, Aunts and uncles, Diane (Richard) Fowler, cousins, Dawn, Darrin, and Dennis (Regina) Fowler, and grand cousins, Daniel and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother Edith Gomberg. Funeral services will be Saturday June 3, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Pastor Doris C. Sparks officiating.
