Isabelle M. Oakley

Age 91, passed away at the Prestige Way extended care home in Holt, on May 23, 2006. She was born the daughter of Albert Daniel and Veronica Catherine (Fox) Pahl on November 2, 1914, in Fostoria Ohio. On August 21, 1948, she married F. Gerald Oakley and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1984. Isabelle graduated from St. Lawrence College with a degree in nursing. She was very active in Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church where she was an Altar Society member, authored a book on the history of the church, and was also a member of the Rosary Guild. Isabelle was an excellent caregiver to many patients, foster children, her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children; John (Stephanie) Oakley of Dimondale, Catherine A. O. Sherman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Theresa Layman of Mason; eight granddaughters, Jennifer Oakley Osborne, Erin Oakley Reynolds, Brooke Oakley Carpenter, Ashley Oakley, Brieanne Layman Hensley, Marissa Layman, Megen Oakley and Alicia Layman; three great-grandchildren, Kymberly, Zachary and Hunter; two sisters, Eulalia Castelein of Tucson, AZ; and Marie Brenamen of Fostoria, OH; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by six brothers; Joseph, Clarence, Edward, Peter, Leo, and Fredrick Pahl and four sisters; Lucille Aylsworth, Alice Van Arsdale, Bernetta Hornby and Loretta Siefken. Funeral Services will be held at Sts. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church, Bunker Hill Township, Leslie, on Friday, May 26, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:15 a.m. at the church. Rite of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Petroski and co-celebrant Rev. Fr. William Lugger. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Vincent Catholic Charities. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Bradley Reilly
Of Stockbridge, MI

Age 24 died at home on May 23, 2006. He was born on June 16, 1981 in Ann Arbor Michigan, the son of Teri R. Kitley and she survives. Bradley enjoyed fishing, video games, sport of all kinds especially softball and spending time with his family. In addition to his mother he is survived by his step-father Carl D. Kitley of Stockbridge; sister Canada (Kevin) wells of Pleasant Lake; brothers Carl Matthew and Jacob Geoffrey Kitley both of Stockbridge. Also surviving are; uncle James (Teresa) Reilly Jr., Aunt Merri Reilly; cousins Josh, Zac, Taylor, and Tylin; aunt Pat Kitley, uncle Chuck (Jo) Kitley, Aunt Dawn (Clark) Titus; cousins Amber, Staci, Mike, Heather, Clark and Justin. He is also survived by his grandparents Jim and Shirley Reilly, Dewayne and Connie Kitley and his Mom-Mom Wireman. Funeral Services will be held at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home on Saturday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Castle officiating. Florence Evelyn Curry
of Unadilla

Passed away May 22, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born February 20, 1918 in Unadilla, MI the daughter of Austin & Fanny (Scouten) Gorton. She graduated from Pinckney High School and Cleary College and worked in the office of Ypsilanti Stove Company. She was married to Edward L. Curry of Milan, MI on July 3, 1938, and in 1941 they moved to Garden City, MI. She was secretary of the Garden City Board of Education and bookkeeper for C. Hershey Chevrolet Dealership. She attended the Garden City Presbyterian Church helping with the children's choir. She was co-chairman for the first Mother's March of Dimes in Garden City and publicity chairman for the United Way. She was a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader and a Boy Scout den mother. She worked as a substitute teacher for several years and was Secretary/Office Manager for the Wayne County Branch of Michigan Farm Bureau from 1967-1978, after which she and her husband returned to their present home on Joslin Lake. Her hobbies were sewing, fishing, bowling, playing cards with family & friends, and family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Roland & Laurence Gorton, and a daughter, Patricia Curry. She is survived by her husband, Edward Lewis Curry; daughter, Nancy Christina (Dennis) Kubin of Westland; Betty Colleen (Robert) Barbour of West Bloomfield and a son, Gary Edward Curry of Garden City, MI; five granddaughters, Kristi (Al) Bloink, Shannon (Chad) McElvany, Colleen Marie (Paul) Dembinski, Stephanie F. Barbour and Jessica Kubin, and her four great-grandchildren, Errol Ace and Kira Olivia McElvany, Owen Edward Bloink, and McKinnley Jane Dembinski, as well as many nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Unadilla Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Clover T. Bailey officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. from Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge, MI. Warren A. Leisinger
Of Chelsea

Age 66, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at Chelsea Community Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born April 13, 1940 in Jackson, MI. the son of the late Don C. and Margaret (Scheele) Leisinger. Warren worked as a driver/mechanic for Chrysler Proving Grounds for 36 years retiring April 30, 1998. He enjoyed fishing, tractors, Hit and Miss engines ,but they all had to be Internationals. On November 10, 1962 he married Alice K. Eschelbach and she survives. Also surviving are their two children; Sarah (Chris) Leisinger Thomas of Ann Arbor and Jeff (Nicole) Leisinger of Plymouth; two loving grandchildren; Maya and Dominik; one brother; Brian (Lana) Leisinger of Stockbridge, One sister-in-law; Helen Steele of Chelsea; Niece and Nephew; Margret (Jeff) Long of Stockbridge and Keith (Stacey) Leisinger of Grass Lake. Linda L. Morse Pitts,

51 of Fort Gratiot Twp., passed away unexpectedly in Mercy Hospital on Monday, May 15, 2006. She was born to Alfred and Joyce Cook on July 31, 1954 in San Diego, CA., went to school in Zanesville, OH, and later graduated from St. Clair County Community College with a degree in nursing. Previously Linda had worked at Evangelical Home Port Huron and various other area nursing homes. She enjoyed Sewing, gardening, shopping, and was especially fond of Shih-tzu dogs. She is survived by her husband, Jack L. Pitts and her former husband, Larry J. Morse, both of Fort Gratiot Township.; her three children, Charles E. (Suzanne) Brown II of St. Clair Shores, Angela (David) Rock of East China, and Jennifer (Justin) Scott of Chelsea; six grandchildren, Alexa, Haley, Sabian, Erin, Jayden, and Jonah; and her brother, Steven (Denise) Cook of Zanesville, OH; two half sisters Abby Cook and Rhonda Cook both of Zanesville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Cook. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 19, 2006 from St. Mary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Brendan J. He is survived by his loving parents, of Chelsea, his grandparents Kenneth (Melane) Kuenzel of Saline, SGM.Glen (Susan) Angell of Cadiz, KY, and William (Mary) Grifka of Chelsea, as well as his great-grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, cousins. Passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Arbor Hospice Residence in Ann Arbor, Michigan at age 88. She was born March 23, 1918 in Evansville, Indiana to Oscar E. and Flossie A. (Julian) Toole. On September 3, 1940 Eileen married William M. Brown, and that union lasted 64 years until he preceded her in death on September 13, 2004. Prior to her marriage, Eileen owned a beauty salon in Indiana. After 1940, she devoted her life to her husband and children and was active in many church and community programs in Dexter, Michigan. Survivors include her two children, Jerry M. Brown (Evelyn) of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Linda J.Brown of Farmington Hills, Michigan; five grandchildren: Randall M.Brown (Mona), Robert W. Brown, Jennifer L. Wilson (Shaun), Benjamin R.Goldberg, and Alex L. Goldberg; three great grandchildren: Caleb, Jada, and Marcus Wilson; three sisters: Elinor Mason France of Spurgeon, Indiana, Lauretta Oliver of Trenton, Michigan, and Doris Connor (George) of Dexter, Michigan; eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: James (Jack) Toole and William E.Toole. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Dexter. Born September 14, 1921 and died May2, 2006. Mary-Rose is survived by her sister Audrey J. Keehn of Chelsea; brother John E.(Betty) Wyss of Southgate; and her stepchildren Donald W. (Dorothy) Cook of FL and Jerald H. (Doris) Cook of NY. For over 30 years she owned Cook’s Store on Sugar Loaf Lake. A memorial service was held at the Pines in Chelsea. Helen Gertrude Jarrell of Prestonsburg, KY passed away at the age of 88, Sunday, April 30, 2006 while in the care of Heartland Manor, Jackson, MI.
She was born in Martin KY, March 23, 1918 to William Grant Jarrell and Frances Laurie (Lafferty). She is survived by her two children, Richard A. (Sharon) Lynch and Frances J. (Rod) West. She is also survived by four grandchildren. Pam (Ken) Shepard, Daya (Oscar) Garcia, Trevor West, Briana West and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by several husbands, Earl Lynch, Curtis Jarrell and Chalmer Myers, beloved grandson, attorney, Anthony L. Lynch and three sisters; baby Thelma, Lula DeMarke and Alma Key.
Helen was a stubborn, courageous, adventuresome and independent soul and a woman well ahead of her time. She came to Michigan for the first time during WWII to support the war effort by building B29 bomber airplanes at the Willow Run Airport. She was one of the original ’Rosie the Riveters’. After the war was over, she moved back to Martin, KY.
In 1950, Helen and her family moved back to Michigan and took residence in Munith. In 1956 she hired in at Chelsea Milling Co., ’Jiffy Mix’ and worked there until her retirement in 1969. After retiring, she followed her dream with her husband and started traveling across the U.S. and Canada training and racing their sulky horses. Her horses were quite successful and gave her a tremendous amount of joy. Upon the death of her husband, she moved to Alabama and worked for Auburn University where she taught mentally and physically challenged adults for several years. She also attended the University of Georgia. She then moved back to her home, Prestonsburg, KY and started working for the State with juvenile delinquents and then on to the Layne House where she worked with adults addicted to alcohol and drugs. She retired from the Layne House at age 76. She then resumed her favorite pastimes; traveling, reading and playing cards.
There will be a private family wake in her honor, at her request. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her honor to the Layne House Substance Abuse TRET Program Rehabilitation Service, 1416 South Lake Dr., Prestonsburg, KY 41653.
