Verna Rena Marshall

Passed away July 29, 2006 in Lansing at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Lela Sharland, her husband Stanley Marshall, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Philip) Fanson, sons Robert (Louise) and Dorwin (Rosalie) Marshall all of Stockbridge. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Millville United Methodist church Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert J. Freysinger officiating. The family will receive friends at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made at the funeral home and at church to the following; Stockbridge Ambulance, Stockbridge Library, Millville United Methodist Church and Hospice of Lansing.
Harry E. Burnett
Of Chelsea, formerly of
Dexter, MI

Age 56, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. He was born on October 21, 1949 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of Harry Jr. and Marjorie (Umstead) Burnett. Harry was a truck driver for R&L Carriers for 13 years retiring in 2001. He loved hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. On December 26, 1971 he married Deborah A. Williams in Dexter and she survives. Also surviving are his mother of Jackson and his father of Florida, four children, Jason Burnett of Michigan, Heather (Steve) Bohnette of Milan, Harry Burnett IV of Chelsea, and Beth (Jason) Hewitt of Chelsea, one brother, Tony (Laura) Burnett of Florida, and one sister, Tamie Petty of Jackson, MI, four grandchildren, Devin, Cody, Morgan, and Kyle. Sister and brother-in-laws, Sherry (Bruce) Parks of Ann Arbor, and Brent Williams of Ann Arbor, and Steve Williams of Saline. Several nieces and nephews and cousins. Also special friends Robert ’Bud’ and Joyce Freysinger. Funeral services will be Friday July 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Robert ’Bud’Freysinger officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date. Fletcher, Zorri Mae
Stockbridge, MI

Passed away at home under the loving care of her family and Great Lakes Hospice Monday July 24, 2006 at the age of 84. She was born on April 17, 1922 in Salyersville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Newton and Emily Marshall Cole, both of Kentucky where 13 children were born of this union of which 11 are deceased. Zorri is survived by a brother Elmer Cole and a sister Shug Cole, both of Kentucky. Zorri is also survived by numerous half sisters and brothers. She married Orville Hughes on May 23, 1936. They were married for 43 years. Orville preceded her in death on August 9, 1979. She married Homer Fletcher on November 21, 1980. They were married for 15 years. Homer preceded her in death on August 6, 1995. Zorri is survived by seven children, a son Paul (Jody) Hughes of Dolan Springs, AZ; daughter Pearl (John) Sparks of Kingman, Arizona; daughter Cinda (Keith) Patrick of Jackson, Michigan; daughter Thelma (Colbert) Smith of Stockbridge, Michigan; daughter Ruth (Harold) Brown of Parma, Michigan; daughter Kathy (Bob) Stone of Leslie, Michigan; daughter Jody (Steve) Poe of Jackson, Michigan. Zorri is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,four grandchildren; Arlene Marie Pickard, Phillip Wayne Hughes, Derek Shane Smith and Brian Keith Patrick and two great-grandchildren; Nicole Marie Kirk and Thomas Keith Hackworth. She has been a member of The Church of Christ for 70 years. Her love of God has always been an inspiration for her family. She loved spending time with her children and numerous grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and spending time with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was such a compassionate soul that wherever she went, she was well-loved. Lucy M. Schiller
Of Ann Arbor

Age 57, died unexpectedly Saturday July 22, 2006 at her home of natural causes. She was born July 5, 1949 in Tecumseh, Michigan, the daughter of Elwyn R. and Vonda L. (Dresselhouse) Schiller. Lucy graduated form Central Michigan University in 1971 and lived in the Bay City area from 1971-1995. She had taught school there and was also a former executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Midland and Caro. From 1995 until her death she was employed at the University of Michigan. Lucy received her masters degree in 2000 from U of M and at the time of her death was a resource librarian in pediatric research at the University. Lucy loved to work in flower gardens. She was artistic and enjoyed stained glass, countedcross stitch and glass bead jewelry and was an accomplished web designer. Surviving are her mother of Gregory, a sister and three brothersAudie M. Hampshire of Portland, Ore., Charles M. Schiller of Pinckney, Neil (Diane) Schiller of Bloomingdale, Mi., and LeRoy (Dawn) Schiller of Rives Junction, nieces and nephews Steve, Andrea, Jessica, Monica, Zack and Parker and several great nieces and nephews. An adopted sister Rosie Blackwell of Waterloo. Also surviving is her canine companion Molly and feline companions Jasper and Nudge. Lucy was preceded in death by her father in 2004. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 26 at 6:00 PM at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Kathy Schellofficiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Wed. 2-4 PM at the funeral home. Jerry Lee Beauchamp


Jerry, age 62 passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born June 13, 1944 in Columbia, Tennessee, the son of Ted Beauchamp and Aline (Beauchamp) Dixon. After graduating from Stockbridge High School in 1962 he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Sawyer Air Base near Marquette, MI. Jerry was an excavation contractor and restorer of antique tractors, he owned and operated M0-Ex Corp. in Punta Gorda for many years. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Sutton) Beauchamp, his mother, Aline (Lacerne) Dixon, of Munith, MI., his sister, Nina (Lee) Redinger of Wausau, WI, a daughter and son, Gigi (Randy) Kangas and Heath Beauchamp both of Nagaunee, MI. and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Bettye Beauchamp. Service arrangements are being handled by the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday 6 - 8 p.m. and the service will be at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Duane Errol Schuman
Of Belleville

Age 35, passed away July 19, 2006. He was born August 11, 1970 to Sandy and Errol Schuman and they survive. He is the cherished husband of Tonya and the beloved Father and ’Best Bud’ of Colin and Carson and son-in-law of Michael and Lynda Horvath. Duane is a veteran of the Marine Corp who served in Desert Storm. He was a 1989 graduate of Belleville High School and was employed by Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed Michigan football, fishing, and time with his family. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his devotion to his family. Duane is also survived by his grandparents Earl & Louise Schuman, Grandmother Larinda Ritter, Sister Angie (Dennis Lolley) Schuman, Brothers-in-law Michael (Robin) Horvath, Bryan (Michelle) Horvath, Brad Horvath, Sister-in-law Renee (Mark) LeClair, many Aunts and Uncles, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his long time best friend Matt Berry. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 25, 11:00 a.m., at Bethany Bible Church, 810 E. Huron River Dr., Belleville, MI, With Pastor Ken Belch officiating. Age 94 died at the Tender Care South care facility in Lansing on July 14, 2006. She was born the daughter of Brice and Dora Patrick on December 16, 1911 in Magoffin County, Kentucky. On Christmas Eve 1932 she married Edward Craft and he preceded her in death in 1992. Nevada is survived by her children; Francis Gardner of Salyersville, KY, Louise (Dale) Rentfrow of Leslie, Margie Pugh of Leslie, Rexford (Judith) Craft of Pleasant Lake, Raymond (Lynda) Craft of Eaton Rapids, Rodger (Sharon) Craft of Charlotte, and Brenda (Paul) Stevens of Monterey, TN. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters; Maudi Hensley of IN, Ressie Trusty of Hazel Green, KY Menifee Patrick of Salyersville, KY, Jess Harold Patrick of Bucyrus, OH, as well as 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two infant children; Ruby M. Craft and Cecial G. Craft as well as her brother and sisters Hasbury, Ethel, Dean, Nelly and Floyd Patrick. Bradley J. Bachman

Age 35, passed away Sunday July 2, 2006. He was born on December 15, 1970 in Jackson, Michigan the son of Gerald and Mary Jo (Dickinson) Bachman. Brad had lived in the area all his life and enjoyed all kinds of sports, the Michigan State Spartans, and his family. Surviving are his parents of Stockbridge, one son, Nicholas C. Bachman-Titus, age 3, one brother Douglas (Christina) Carley of AZ, one sister Laura Bachman of Michigan, his special companion Heather Titus and her child, Benjamin Titus, age 7, his grandparents, Owen W. (Arlene) Bachman of Mason, four nephews, Joshua, Ryan, Crandall, Tucker, and one niece, Jay Karis. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Doris Bachman, E. Donald Dickinson, and Jocille Dickinson. Funeral services will be Saturday July 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge with Parson Billy Allen and Rev. Mary Jane Dettling
Chelsea, MI

Age 79, passed away Monday July 3, 2006 at her home. She was born on August 22, 1926 in Chelsea, Michigan the daughter of John and Meta (Hinderer) Eder. Mary Jane was a life long Chelsea resident and a graduate of Chelsea High School. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church her entire life where she played the organ and sang for many weddings and funerals. She had also been a vocalist in the University of Michigan Choral Union. She was a librarian at the McKune Memorial Library and was on the staff of Spaulding for Children for many years. She was past president and treasurer of the Chelsea Community Chest, and was also on the founding council for St. Louis Center. On June 9, 1951 she married John C. (Jack) Dettling in Chelsea, and he preceded her in death on February 7, 1999. Surviving are five children, John (Lynda) Dettling of Chelsea, Amy (Bruce) Connell of Chelsea, Mary Beth Brady of Grayling, David Dettling of Chelsea, Donald (Donna) Dettling of Gregory, also a very special “son”, John P. Wagner of Arizona, two brothers, Donald (Loretta) Eder of Chelsea, and John (Sally) Eder of Ann Arbor, two sisters, Elaine Durham of Seattle, Washington, and Katherine (James) Schneider of Colorado, one granddaughter, Cara Madison Connell, six step-grandchildren, Tracy Heydlauff, Steve Cattell, Jennifer Cole, John Cattell, Melissa Connell Brown, and Barney Eureste, many very loved nieces and nephews, including Angeline Eder, numerous cousins, and special friend, Ralph Sharkey. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and beloved stepmother, Wilhelmina Eder, Michael B. Connell and Thomas Brady.
