Leroy H. Wing
Of Ann Arbor, MI

Age 85 passed away June 6, 2007. He was born the son of Harold and Pauline J. (Finkbeiner) Wing on December 27, 1921 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has lived on the farm since then. On October 8, 1949 he married Barbara Bradbury and she survives. Leroy was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, the Pittsfield Grange and the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau. He loved to talk, even to people he did not know, he enjoyed deer hunting, and also watching them from his house. Most of all he loved his family, the Wing reunion parties and their sesquicentennial farm the family started as one of the pioneering families of Washtenaw County. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Sharon L. (James) Wheeler of Pinckney, Diane M. (Ron Holguin) Wing of San Pedro, CA, Kurt (Louann) Wing of Dexter, and Kevin (Stacey) Wing of Ann Arbor. Also surviving are his grandchildren Ben (Rebecca) Wheeler, Sara Wheeler, Beth Ann (Mike) Fowler, Patrick, Kayla, Brandon, Nathaniel and Hannah Wing; his great grandchildren Grady Wheeler and Whitley Fowler, along with his brother-in-law Rufus Coffey. Leroy was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Coffey. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dexter United Methodist Church with Dr. Matthew J. Hook and the Rev. Ruth E. Horning
Of Chelsea, MI

After a three year battle with cancer, age 63, Ruth Horning passed away peacefully with family at her side while at the Arbor Hospice Residence on Monday, June 4, 2007. She was born November 12, 1943 in Stockbridge, MI, the daughter of John and Sylvia (Thompson) Prentice. Ruth had lived in the Chelsea area her entire life and spent her childhood life on the family farm just outside of Chelsea. She graduated in the top percent of her class from Chelsea High School in 1961. Just as she led her life, she actively pursued many extra-curricular activities serving in many student government positions, and as an active member of the National Honor Society. Ruth found a passion for music and received a scholarship to Interlochen for playing the flute. She also enjoyed playing piano and passed on that love to her daughter Kim. Ruth enjoyed bowling with her friends and was quite proud of the fact she once rolled a 265. She attended Eastern Michigan University, where she achieved her teaching degree in three years. She taught 5th Grade for one year in Garden City, MI. Although her passion for teaching was strong, she decided to stay at home and teach her children what the true values in life were. She did that with a true sense of accomplishment by graduating five wonderful children. Ruth loved scrap booking, and made books for each of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed writing poems and making greeting cards for all occasions. She enjoyed her family dearly, and along with her husband Neil, never missed her kids’ ball games and activities. Ruth found peace and solitude working in the yard and landscaping activities with her husband Neil. She also enjoyed traveling with Neil as they took in the various sights on cruises they attended. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and put God at the top of her priorities with an unshakeable faith. She was a member of the Chelsea Homemakers. Ruth’s gift was in taking care of others. She loved her grandchildren, and spent many days teaching them the truly important things in life. Ruth’s gift of compassion for others led her to her most recent job where she served the last 15 years as a home hospice provider caring for many terminally ill patients. Ruth truly made a difference in many lives.

On October 31, 1964 she married Donald R. Forner, and they had two children, Kimberly Ann (Rick) Eder, of Chelsea, and Matthew J. (Lisa) Forner of Southern Indiana. On November 22, 1980 Donald lost his battle with cancer and passed away. On August 14, 1981 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chelsea, she married Neil E. Horning, who has three children: Kimberly Sue (Alan) Roskowski, of Gregory, Paul R. (Amy Neitling) Horning of Dundee, MI, and Randall (Amy) Horning of High Point, N.C. Ruth loved all of her children dearly, and was committed to making a blended family work. In addition to her husband, Neil, and their five children, she is also survived by one sister-in-law, Janet Prentice of Chelsea, and brother-in-law Earl (Diane) Horning of Manchester, former brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marie Taulbee of Pontiac, Jerome (Mollie) Forner of Springboro, OH, Janet (Luke) Salyer of Nevada, Susan Forner of Chicago, and Thomas (Martha) Forner of Chelsea; also eight grandchildren: James Horning, Logan and Tanner Horning, Corynne and Benjamin Eder, Kali Roskowski, and Zachary and Drew Forner. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Prentice, and former sister-in-law Kay Forner.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Doris Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at STAFFAN-MITCHELL FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Arbor Hospice.

William Davis Sr.
of Stockbridge, MI.

Age 65, passed away June 1, 2007 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan. He was born on December 30, 1941 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, the son of Ernie and Della (Rowll) Davis. He enjoyed blue grass music, fishing, traveling, telling stories and being with his family. On January 14, 1963 he married Erma Marie West and she survives, also surviving are there children, Tammy (David) Chick of Stockbridge, Ricky (Lisa) Davis of Leslie, William Jr. (Marie) Davis of Byron, Rodney Davis and Crystal (George) Chick all of Stockbridge. Brothers and sisters, Cal, Alton, Earl, Gene, Reed, Catherine, Wanda, Rosalee, Teri, Cleta, Grace as well as 12 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Baby sister Willma, and two adult sisters Jackie and Mary. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge. Burial will follow at Dansville Cemetery. Virginia F. Carpenter

Age 77, passed away Saturday June 1, 2007 at the Stockbridge Country
Manor. She was born on January 10, 1930 in Sublett County Kentucky the daughter of Dewey and Lilly (Combs) Barker. She had lived in the area most of her life. Flowers, making crafts, puzzles, cooking for everybody and her grandchildren were her favorite pastimes. On August 27, 1945 she married Willie Carpenter in Stockbridge and he survives, also surviving are their children, Nick (Diane) Carpenter of Fitchburg, Dave Carpenter of Richlands NC., Ted (Dianna) Carpenter of Fitchburg, Vickey (Wallace) Brown of Prestonsburg, KY, and Jeff (Kim) Carpenter of Fitchburg. 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter in law Cheryl Carpenter and 1 granddaughter Rebbeca Carpenter. Richard D. Conley
Of Munith, MI.

Age 43, passed away May 31, 2007 at his home in Munith in the care of Hospice . He was born on May 23, 1964 in Findlay, Ohio the son of James R. and Irene (Bailey) Conley. Richard worked for FLOW-EZY Filter in Ann Arbor and was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a avid sports fan and a wonderful and devoted brother and friend. Surviving are two brothers, Ricky (Karen) Conley of Swayzee, Indiana and Randall R. Conley of Munith, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister. Kenneth R. Bobo
of Ann Arbor, MI.

Age 23, went to be with his lord Sunday, May 27, 2007 as he slipped away peacefully in his sleep. Ken had made many great achievements in the last year that made everyone proud of the fine young man he had become. Ken had a great big heart and personality that will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was born on August 18, 1983 to Dennis Sheats and Barbara Bobo. He worked for Cottage Inn Pizza and was attending Washtenaw community College. Surviving are his parents, Step father Randy Scott, his very special grandmother, Muriel (Granny) Bobo of Belleville, Grandfather Fred and Sharon Bobo of Horton and his Canine brother Pete; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Timothy F. Cavender Sr.
of Stockbridge, MI

Age 74 passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 27, 2007. He was born the son of Robert and Mary MccAnn Cavender on September 20, 1932. On March 12, 1971 he married Betty J. Ribby and she survives. He loved to watch TV especially Westerns and Star Trek, but most of all he loved his family. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Ronald D. (Patricia) Blanchard of Stockbridge, Daniel K. Blanchard of Stockbridge, Duane D. Blanchard of Mason, Timothy F. (Nikki) Cavender Jr. of Holt, Kimberly (John) Beck of Munith, and Jeffery Cavender of Stockbridge. Also surviving are six grandchildren, one great grandchild; his brothers Lawrence (Terry) Cavender of AZ and Louis Cavender of Stockbridge. Timothy was preceded in death by his parents. Charles Edward Risner
Of Stockbridge, MI

Age 80 passed away at his home surrounded by his family on May 25, 2007. He was born the son of Millard and Nan Risner on April 19, 1927 in Salyersville, Kentucky. On February 4, 1946 he married Mary E. Poe and she survives. Charlie enjoyed hunting rabbits, running his dogs and gardening. He also loved to talk to people and many people would stop at his vegetable stand just to talk with him. Most of all he loved spending time with his dogs (Jack and CJ, amongst others now gone) and with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Lewis E. (Ginger) Risner of Stockbridge and Jeanett R. (Dave) Everett of Grass Lake. He is also survived by his sisters Maxine (Shafter) Risner of Greenwich, OH, Edizine Lewis of Pleasant Lake, Alva (Glaster) Risner of Greenwich, OH, Wanda (Bob) Waters of Ocala, FL, Sue (Kelly) Ervin of Ocala, FL and Dorothy Pickett of Jackson. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lois Jean Adams. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home with Rev. Elmer Schulte
of Stockbridge, MI
Age 77 passed away at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility in Okemos, MI. He was born the son of Romie and Elizabeth (Fraser) Schulte on June 18, 1929 in Detroit, MI. On August 18, 1951 he married Dolores Dean-Boyle in Utica, MI and she survives. Elmer was a natural leader, having served his country in the Korean war, he served as the president of the American Legion, Mackinder-Glenn Post 510, President of local 35 and also as a volunteer firefighter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes and Golfing with friends and family. Elmer had many long lasting friends and relationships. Most of all he enjoyed being with his friends and family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Diana Schulte of Lansing, Tom (Bernadette) Schulte of Sterling Heights, Michael (Diane) Schulte of Stockbridge, Charlie (Nancy) Schulte of Dansville, Carole Schulte of Lansing, and David Schulte of Dansville. Also surviving is his sister Ethel Delany of Lexington, M and his brother Lawrence (Betty) Schulte of Attica, MI. Geraldine J. (Carr) Reith
of Chelsea, MI

Age 84, died May 21, 2007, at the Chelsea Retirement Community. Gerry was born on May 31, 1922, in Chelsea, MI, the daughter of Walter and Emma (Mester) Carr. On May 31, 1944, she married G. Leonard Reith at the North Lake United Methodist Church, where she remained a member. Gerry worked for several car dealerships in the area including thirty years at Faist-Diesing in Chelsea. Gerry also served for several years as the Lyndon Township Treasurer. She and her husband founded the Paso Fino Horse Foundation and were Life Members of the Great Lakes Paso Fino Federation. After 58 years of marriage, Leonard preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her half-brother, Ralph Kinner. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Reith, of Chicago, 14 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. Carolyn Stoffer

Of Chelsea, MI

Age 84, passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital on May 21, 2007. She was born on April 20, 1923 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Samuel and Helen(Russell) Cushman. Carolyn had lived in Chelsea most of her life. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1941. On April 20, 1946 she married John H. Stoffer in Manchester. They were married for nearly 56 years, and he preceded her in death January of 2003. Carolyn was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Chelsea. Shewas employed by University Microfilms for 25 years. She also worked at Winans Jewelry for many years. She loved gardening, sewing, needlepoint, games, cards, bowling. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. During the Vietnam War, she wrote and published a newsletter for all the area boys who were over seas, keeping track of their whereabouts and activities. She is survived by her three children, Dennis (Barbara) Stoffer of Chelsea,Diane Stoffer (Dennis Singsank) of Ann Arbor, and Patrice (Douglas) Brink of Chelsea. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Nicholas, Kristin and Lindsey Brink, and Megan Stoffer, also one brother Tom (Geraldine) Cushman of Brooklyn, MI. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jackson, and Charlotte Barrett, a brother, Sam Cushman,and an infant brother, David Cushman. Robert P. Hunter
of Munith, MI.

Age 78, passed away Sunday May 20, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. He was born on January 4, 1929 in Floyd County Kentucky the son of James and Ella Jane (Hughes) Hunter Sr. Robert had lived in the area for the past 50 years and worked for DANA Corporation in Chelsea for 35 years retiring in 1995. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his grandkids. On May 2, 1955 he married Beaulah Sawyer and she preceded him in death on November 18, 2002. Surviving are three children, Joyce (and loving companion Kenny Bozinoff) of Munith, Randy (Cynthia) Hunter of Horton, and Sherri Hunter of Munith. One brother James ’Buddy’ Hunter of Munith and one sister Lucinda Kidd of TN. Three grandchildren, Ariana, Ben and Brin. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Joseph Hunter, Mae Goodman, Rupert Hunter, Virl Hunter, Willie Hunter and Susan Hunter. Funeral services will Wednesday May 23, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Marlene Mary Howlett

Age 68 died Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at her home. She was born the daughter of Arlo and Gladys (Sheathelm) Warfle January 8, 1939 in Stockbridge, Michigan, and then resided in Williamston and Dansville later in life. She worked for the Michigan Educational Association for 30 years before retiring in 1993. She was known as a person that never met a stranger and someone who always put others before herself. Marlene’s main love in life was her family was always worried about everyone but herself, she will be missed very much! Marlene is survived by her mother Gladys Wafle of Dansville; husband Linwood Howlett of Dansville; two children, Jody (Bruce) Lantis of Dansville and Jeff (Darlene) Howlett of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Melissa (Jim) Moyer, Matthew and Macy Howlett; two sisters, Carolyn Elliot and Marie Shepard; two Brothers Dennis and Doug Warfle as well as nieces and nephews. Dr. Allan L. Trapp DVM, PHD.
Of Lansing, Michigan.

Age 74, died Tuesday May 15, 2007 at Ingham Regional Medical Center Green Lawn Campus. He was born on July 20, 1932 in Stockbridge, Michigan the son of Howard R. and Ada E. (Corser) Trapp. Allan graduated from Stockbridge High School as valedictorian, in 1950. He furthered his education at Michigan State University receiving his DVM of Veterinary Medicine in 1955 , then in 1960 at Iowa State he received his PHD in Pathology. In 1966 he began his career at Michigan State University Veterinary College Animal Health Diagnostics Lab, as Professor For 26 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association for several years. On January 2, 1955 he married Joyce E. Ellison and she survives, also surviving are his Step Mother Harriet Trapp of Stockbridge, Four children, Kathy (Jeff) Heider of Montana, John Trapp of Flint, Caryn Trapp of Penn., and Bill (Cindy) Trapp of Ada, Mi. Six grandchildren, Drew, Amanda, Kristen, Rachel, Cassie and Andrew. Brothers and sisters, Glenn Trapp of Fl., Ed (Sue) Trapp of Montana, Carol Satterthwaite of Chelsea, Shirley Habeck of WI., Pat Patterson of Jackson, and Nancy (Albert) Matyzius of Fitchburg. Several nieces and nephews as well. He was preceded in death by 1 brother Robert Trapp and 1 sister Jeannette Collins. Age 93, passed away at the Sacred Heart Care Home on Monday, May 7, 2007. Jane was born in Detroit, MI on February 17, 1914 the daughter of John and Susan (Galloway) Moore. She had lived in the Westland, Detroit, and Garden City area most of her life. On March 19, 1938 she married Henry R. Kelm, and he preceded her in death in 2005. Jane loved to travel, go out to eat and be with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are three children: Shirley Opp of Stockbridge, Raymond (Betty) Kelm of Plymouth, and Donald (Janet) Kelm of Canton; also eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Lepri. Toby O. Medina
Of Stockbridge, MI

Age 19 passed away at Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. He was born the son of Tony D. and Kim (Risner) Medina on August 31, 1987 In Chelsea, Michigan. Toby was a hard worker and worked for anything he wanted or needed. His family noted he was a very giving person that never met a stranger, he was very outgoing, always smiled, and loved his family. Toby is survived by his mother and father Tony and Kim Medina of Stockbridge; brother Jesse D. Medina of Stockbridge; grandparents Oscar Medina, Ruthie Medina and Jimmy Risner. Also surviving is his special nephew Blake Lee, son of Jesse and Trena Shepherd along with many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Toby was preceded in death by his grandmother Betty Risner. Ronald W. Wilson

Age 38 passed away at his home on April 16, 2007. He was born on March 20, 1969 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ronald loved music of all kinds especially vinyl records and albums, he loved all his family and they loved him. Surviving is his mother Rose M. (Dave) Haas of Jackson, grandmother Georgia Mae Wilson of Unadilla, sister Bonnie Wilson of Unadilla and brother Prince Wilson of Unadilla. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles Millie (Don) Martin of Grass Lake, Dave (Donna) Wilson of Gregory, Paul Wilson of Unadilla, John Wilson of Unadilla, Nellie Wilson of Unadilla; cousins Aaron Martin of Puerto Rico, Mike and Johnny; nephews Brandon and Ryan and his favorite baby Devin. Age 42, died Saturday, April 21, 2007 . He was born June 27, 1964. Surviving is, one son Kyle R. Siedhoff of Chelsea, Kyle’s mother Debbie Schantz Siedhoff of Chelsea, one brother Roy (Joanne) Siedhoff of FL, and one sister Tammy La Fountain of Jackson, several nieces and nephews. Age 71 passed away at home on April 18, 2007. She was born the daughter of Joe and Frances (Szalatyski) Grusecki on March 1, 1936 in Hamtramck, Michigan. On January 23, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan she married Gerald Cudejko and he survives. Monica enjoyed playing bingo, fishing for walleye on Lake St. Clair, crocheting, shopping and playing cards with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Donald Cudejko of Manchester, Debra Bezesky of Manchester, Doreen (Walker) Smith of Brighton, Donna (John) Visger of Manchester, and Sandra (Joseph) Hockey of Pinckney. She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, April, 21 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. William J. Turner. Harold L. ’Hal’Pennington
of Chelsea, Michigan.

Age 74, passed away Thursday April 19, 2007 at the Chelsea
Retirement Community. He was born on April 16, 1933 in Macon, Michigan the son of Lewis and Anna (Birch) Pennington. Mr. Pennington was the first Chelsea Hospital Administrator, a Member of Chelsea Village Council and Mayor of Chelsea in 1969, a member of Inverness Country Club and former board member, member of St. Mary and received his fourth degree of Knighthood with the Knights of Columbus. A veteran of the United States Army. He worked for DANA Corporation and became the personnel director of operations. He then was employed with Rycon Corporation becoming the purchasing manager. Hal loved to play golf, bowl and watch college and high school football. He enjoyed his annual visit to Las Vegas with the guy’s but the love of his life was his loving wife Margaret ’Peg’ to whom he was married on June 25, 1955 and she survives. Also surviving are their children, Mark , Julia , Steve , Meg ,Timothy and Daniel (Carolin) Pennington, one sister, Barbara Walker of Jackson, ten grandchildren, Gino, Robert, Laura, Ryan, Jacob, Eleanor, Maryryan, Nicolas, Henry and James. Also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. In 1985 Mr. Pennington was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and fought a courageous battle for many years. Bertrand O. Lightfoot
of Chelsea, MI
Age 84, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at his home. He was born on November 22, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Charles B. and Clara A. (Krause) Lightfoot. Mr. Lightfoot served his country in the United States Army during World War II before marrying Anne C. Adamson on September 23, 1949 and she preceded him in death in 1998. He and his wife had lived in the Chelsea area since 1989 coming from Livonia. For over twenty-five years, he was a purchasing agent for a steel manufacturing company in Detroit. He expressed his creativity through his beautiful stained glass work which he loved to give as gifts to family and friends. He was a member of the Eureka North Warren Masonic Lodge No. 594 F. & A.M. and volunteered at the Chelsea Retirement Community in the ice cream parlor for many years. Surviving are one daughter, Diane C. (Robert) Daniel of Chelsea, two grandsons, Adam and Jared Daniel, and several nieces and nephews. Bert was particularly proud of his grandsons and enjoyed being a part of their lives. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Lightfoot. The family will receive family and friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Friday, April 20, 2007 from 6-8 PM. Age 46, passed away Monday April 16, 2007 in Dunn, North Carolina . He was born on May 14, 1960 in Waukesha, Wisconsin the son of James and Patricia (Neumeyer) Stirling Sr. Jim graduated from Chelsea High School in 1978 and worked for Edwards Brothers Inc. as a Regional Sales Manager for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed golfing, reading and playing hockey. He was a member of the Polo Fields and belonged to St. Paul ’s United Church of Christ in Chicago . On September 19, 1987 he married Rebecca A. Klees and she survives. Also surviving are his parents of Ada , MI; three daughters, Katie age 16, Anna age 13, and Jordan age 12; brother and sisters, Jeff (Kristen) Stirling of Dexter, Mardy Stirling (Brett Green) of Livonia, Carol (David) Kiel of Benton Harbor and Cynthia (John) Finzel of Commerce Twp., MI; Aunt Roberta and Uncle David Ewbank of Ohio , and several nieces and nephews. Beverly J. Hawks
of Chelsea, Michigan.

Age 72, passed away Sunday April 15, 2007 at her home. She was born on June 18, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Rolland and Bernice (Langusch) Dittmer. Beverly had lived in the Chelsea area since 1970. She enjoyed doll making, sewing and all kinds of crafts. Beverly had A very generous heart, always thinking of others and showed it by her actions. Love of her family was paramount to Beverly. Surviving are two children, Kirk (Ardella) Hawks of Bellvue, CO. and Karen (Jerry) Musgrave of Ypsilanti. The children’s father is Dr. William N. Hawks of Chelsea. Also surviving is her brother, Rolland (Marlene) Dittmer of Pinckney. Beverly had four grandchildren, Miranda, Jason, Jordan, Calvin and three nieces and nephews; Craig Dittmer, Kevin Dittmer, and Susan Singleton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Pastor Kurt Hutchens officiating. Irene (Allen) Heinz

Age 77 passed away at the Country Creek care facility on April 15, 2007. She was born the daughter of Ethan and Ada (Craft) Allen on November 5, 1929 in Middletown, Ohio. On June 10, 1950 she married Richard Heinz and he preceded her in death in 2000. Irene enjoyed going to garage sales, watching her soaps, cooking and going out to eat. Most of all she enjoyed her family. Irene is survived by her children, Judy Heinz of Leslie, Raymond (Teresa) Heinz of Webberville, Sharon Lewis of Leslie, Helen Heinz of Stockbridge, Larry Heinz of Leslie and Susan (Mike) Hill of Gregory. Also surviving are her brother and sisters, Jack Allen, Joyce Allen, Thelma Bailey; sister-in-law Delores Allen, Lee Ann Allen, brother-in-law Blaine Armour and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents Irene was preceded in death by Richard Heinz Sr., Richard Heinz Jr., Paul G. Allen, Ira Allen, Maxine Allen, Juanita Evans, Ruth Armour as well as two infant siblings. Funeral services will be Thursday at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert J. Age 78, passed away March 31, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in SuperiorTownship. He was born on December 13, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan the son ofJohn and Dorothy (Lampshire) Miller. Jack had lived in the area all of hislife. He was a veteran of the United States Army Serving from January of1953 to January of 1955. He worked for Michigan Consolidated Gas Companyfor 36 years retiring in 1993. Ronald L. Hollister

Age 55 passed away unexpectedly at the Chelsea Community Hospital on March 26, 2007. He was born the son of Clare and Bessie (Stevens) Hollister on June 13, 1951 in Stockbridge, Michigan. On September 23, 2000 he married Cynthia Darling and she survives. Ron was an avid bowler, golfer, and he also enjoyed fishing, margaritas and was very fond of his Ford Mustang. In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his children Staci L. Hollister of Jackson, Dennis (Jaimi) Clarke of Gregory, Donna St. Charles of Howell, and Tabatha St. Charles of Atlanta, MI. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren with one on the way, mother, father and step mother Connie Hollister of Lake Odessa, mother-in-law Rosie Darling of Whitmore Lake, sisters; Sharon Reed of Munith, Shirley Weatherwax of Chelsea, and brother Steven (Lois) Hollister of Manchester. Margaret Cook
Of Chelsea, MI
formerly of East Grand Rapids, MI

Age 82 passed way at her home on March 19, 2007. She was born the daughter of Oliver J. And Ellen (Isaacson) Farmer in Flint Michigan on May 1, 1924. Margaret graduated from University of Michigan in 1946. She was a past editor of the Michigan Daily. She graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1949 and worked for Amberg, Law, & Buchen (now known as Law, Weathers & Richardson), in Grand Rapids, the first of the city’s major firms to hire a woman attorney. Cook later worked for the U.S. Attorney's Office, and from there went to the trust department of Old Kent Bank, where she eventually became Vice President and Trust Counsel. Margaret was a long-time member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and served as its Secretary in 1978. Margaret was one of the first three women to work as attorneys in Grand Rapids, along with Rosemary Scott and Jean McKee. She was a past president of the Grand Rapids Red Cross and participated in many other volunteer and work-related activities in Grand Rapids. Margaret Cook was married to George R. Cook, who served as a Circuit Court Judge for Kent County. Margaret, when married to George, was the first lawyer ever sponsored at the bar admission ceremonies by a spouse. Margaret is survived by her daughter Anne (J. Timothy) Merkel of Chelsea and her two grandchildren Brian and George Merkel both of Chelsea. A memorial service will take place at Silver Maples in Chelsea, on Friday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Interment will immediately follow the memorial service. Leah Lee

Age 95, died at her home in Chelsea with her daughter at her side on Monday, March 19, 2007, after a two year journey dealing with the effects of a stroke. She was born the daughter of Minden and L.C. (Sutton) Miller on July 12, 1911 in LaGro, Indiana. Leah met the love of her life, Jack (John Edward) Lee, in Jackson, Michigan, and they were married May 16, 1931 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Jackson. Jack preceded her in death on April 22, 1980. Leah is survived by her children Kay (Jack) Arthur of Chattanooga, TN, Jack (Judy) Lee, Jr. of Newberry, MI, and Judy (Michael) Nold of Chelsea, MI. She was the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren Tom Goetz, Mark Goetz, and David Arthur of Chattanooga, TN, Cindi St. Germaine of Avoco, MI, Sherie Courchaine of Crystal Falls, MI, Matt Lee of St. Petersburg, FL, Jessica Porter of Dedham, MA, Jason Porter of Brooklyn, NY, and Mike Nold, Jr. of Redwood City, CA. She was also proud to be blessed with 17 great grandchildren. Leah worked throughout her life helping others, as a physician’s assistant, wife, mother and caregiver to many, especially her mother, L.C., in her final years. After her husband became an Episcopal priest, she was an active part of his ministry, serving on various church guilds, including his first church, St. Barnabas, in Chelsea where she was a current member. Prior to residing in Chelsea, she lived in Venice, FL, moving permanently back to Chelsea in 2001. Leah was a member of the Red Hat Society (Pierce Lake) and a member of Chapter CH, PEO in Ann Arbor. In the past two years Leah was blessed with loving caregivers, including Dr. Jim Peggs, Mary Corey, Meghan Healy, Joanne Lidster, and Kathy Quinlan, as well as other professionals of Chelsea Community Hospital, United Methodist Retirement Community, Chelseacare Home Health and Arbor Hospice and Home Care. A memorial service will take place at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 309 S. Jackson St., Jackson, MI on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 with Fr. Larry Walters and the Rev. Myra Colvin co-officiating. Robert L. Engel ’Bob’
of Munith formerly of Northville.

Age 71, died Thursday March 22, 2007 at his home. He was born on August 2, 1935 in Detroit Michigan the son of the late Harvey M. and Lillian (Dawe) Engel. Bob enjoyed baseball especially the Detroit Tigers, golfing and bowling. On April 18, 1959 he married Donna L. Smith in Salem, Michigan and she survives. Also surviving are his children; Michael Engel of Pleasant Lake, Ginnie (Mark) Steele of Stockbridge, Sandra (Brian) Suter of Brighton and Carrie Engel of Stockbridge; 10 grandchildren; two sisters and 1 brother; John (Sandra) Engel of Northville, Marilyn (James) Taylor of Parma and Irene (Lee) Minehart of North Carolina. The Sauve’ Family and the Stockbridge Community mourns the loss of two very fine young men. Devin and Kade Sauve’ died in a car accident early Monday morning, March 19, 2007, on their way to school. Born in Lansing, Devin (June 25, 1990) and Kade (May 5, 1994) were the sons of Michael Sauve’ and Jill (Coakley) Sauve’. Devin and Kade were loving brothers; great sons; friends to all; competitive athletes; and quality young men who touched the lives of many. They were loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing them. Devin, a sophomore at Stockbridge High School, was a member of the Varsity Wrestling Team with an outstanding record of 95 and 12. He was also a contributing member of the Stockbridge Cross Country team, Track team and the JV Soccer team. Devin’s goal was to earn 12 letters to grace his Varsity Jacket tying or passing the school record. Elected by his sophomore class, Devin was Coming Home King of 2007. Devin belonged to the Freestyle Wrestling Club where in addition to competing, he coached and taught young kids the basics of wrestling. He enjoyed fishing, spending time in the out-of-doors and living off the land. Last summer he completed a 3 week Outward Bound course in the North Carolina Mountains - an experience he felt was life altering. Devin had a wonderful sense of humor, was outgoing and friendly as evidenced by his infectious smile, and was well liked and respected by all. Kade was an honor roll student in the sixth grade at the Stockbridge Middle School. Following in the footsteps of his big brothers, Kade belonged to the Free Style Wrestling Club where he was rapidly developing a reputation as an up-and-coming wrestling talent. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, and cross country running. Despite his young age, Kade gave 110 percent to any activity he pursued. He was a very caring and generous 12 year old boy who helped with many tasks around the home and in his school. He truly had a heart of gold. Devin and Kade, along with their brother, Kyle, were the pride and joy of their father, Michael. They gave their dad a will to live despite a serious illness requiring an organ transplant last year. As tissue and heart valve donors, we hope Kade and Devin’s spirits will be with us as they help others live another day. The boys brought their mother, Jill, and their half-sister, Tessa great joy as well. They were instrumental in helping them through some pretty rough times these past 4 years. Both Devin and Kade helped make their home town of Stockbridge a wonderful place to live and gave back to their community. People who knew the Sauve’ boys frequently commented what good boys they were, and that they were welcome at their homes at any time. Always with a smile on their faces, they brightened those around them with their genuine caring and compassion - never leaving anyone out. Surviving are their parents, brother Kyle N. Sauve’ of Stockbridge, half-sister Tessa Innes of Pleasant Lake; grandparents Bernadine G. Spry of Dewitt, and Jean Coakley of Stockbridge; aunts and uncles, Michelle (Garret) Peaslee of Kalamazoo, and Corey (Greg) Pena of Stockbridge; and several cousins, friends and neighbors. They were preceded in death by grandparents Neil E. Sauve’, Donald Coakley, and Kirk Spry. Age 89 passed away Thursday March 15, 2007 at the Chelsea Community Hospital. She was born on August 29, 1917 in Bluemound, Illinois the daughter of George and Mary (Dobbs) Speaks. She was a good friend to all she met and a wonderful neighbor. On September 16, 1942 she married Lawrence E. Kelly and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2001. Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Mary Jane Gilbert of Coldwater and special friends Mary Lee (Sam) Musselman of Gregory. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. A special thank you is to be given to the Chelsea Retirement Community and their entire staff. Funeral services will be Saturday March 17, 2007 at 2:00 PM at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home. Age 58 passed away Monday, March 12, 2007 at home. He was born October 24, 1948 in Stockbridge, MI. the son of Albert Elmer and Wanda (Simons) Kilpatrick, Sr.. Albert was a fan of wrestling, a hunter, won awards for demolition racing and was a motorcycle award winner. On December 11, 1993, in Jackson, MI., he married Karen E. Scheel and she survives. Also surviving are his parents of Fort Myers, FL; his children, Dennis (Melissa) Culvahouse, of Laporte, ID, Wendy (Ira Williams) Parker of Jackson, MI, Amanda (James) Wireman of Flint, MI, Tami Carpenter, of Jonesville, MI, Scarlatt Marlatt of Jackson, MI, Pammie Ginn Rutan of Jackson, MI, 12 grandchildren and three more on the way; four brothers, Bobby (Mildred) Marshall, Chester (Paula) Marshall, Timmy (Mary) Marshall and Dennis (Nancy) Walker; three sisters, Brenda Marshall, Cindy (JB) Adams and Linda (Miguel) Mata. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Walker and two sisters, Pat Wilkes and Sherry Cullimore. Age 86, went home to be with her Lord on March 6, 2007 at the Stockbridge Country Manor. She was born on October 3, 1920 In Jackson, Michigan the daughter of Archibald and Hattie (Sherman) Peek. She was a member of the Stockbridge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Reading, Crocheting, and wrote in her diary every day. Also a life member of Gideon’s International. Most of all she loved and cherished all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are two children, Richard (Marie) Stanfield of National City, MI, and Sharon (Richard) Lemorie of Howell, MI; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. One brother Robert (Ginny) Dorer of Grass Lake, two brother-in law’s Bill (Doris) Stanfield Stockbridge and Neil (Elizabeth) Stanfield of Napoleon. She was preceded in death by her husband Maynard O. Stanfield and her brother and sister-in-law David (Lavonne) Stanfield. A memorial service will be held on Friday march 9, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. from the Stockbridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Robert Henning officiating. Private burial will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Stockbridge. Rose Maryann Dorer
Of Chelsea

Age 80 passed away at the Chelsea Community Hospital on March 2, 2007. She was born the daughter of Tibor and Grace (Popp) Kiss in Detroit, Michigan on February 7, 1927. Rose was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening for vegetables and flowers, and canning what she had grown herself. She was also very proud of her farm girl upbringing, most of all she loved her family. Rose is survived by her children Steven (Denise) Dorer of Howell, Kevin (Angie) Dorer of Raceland LA, and Doreen Dorer of Dexter as well as grandchildren Kristin, Jeffrey Amber and Jason and great-grandchildren Kelby and Kendall. Also surviving are her brothers and sister Lorna Koch of Chelsea, Richard Kiss of Chelsea, Adrian (Freta) Kiss of Jackson, and Robert (Emma) Kiss of FL. She was preceded in death by her sister Grace Gardner. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby R. Long
Of Stockbridge, MI

Age 71, passed away Wednesday February 28, 2007 at his home.
He was born on February 3, 1936 in Royalton , Kentucky the son of Hobert and Maxine (Marshall) Long. Bobby had lived in the area most of his life and was a member of the Church of Christ . A veteran serving in the United States Army from May of 1956 to March of 1958. He retired from the Dana Corporation in Chelsea. He enjoyed Golfing, Reading and spending time at Dixie’s cafe’. On July 21, 1956 he married Neva M. Fauser in Angola IN, and she preceded him in death. Surviving are four children, Janet Long and her partner Elizabeth Williams of Jackson , Sandra Craft of Stockbridge, Dana (Loran) Hyden of Grant AL, and David Long of Stockbridge. One brother Lawrence (Lila) Long of Stockbridge and one sister Deborah Carr of Stockbridge; as well as nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren . He was also preceded in death by one son Frederick (Rob) Long, one daughter Rebecca C. Long, and one brother Pat Long. Funeral services will be Monday March 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with Larrel Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Stockbridge. Edgar G. Bradshaw

Age 70, passed away Sunday February 25, 2007 at the Sparrow Specialty Hospital in Lansing, Mi. He was born on June 7, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Clyde and Elsie (Gordon) Bradshaw. Edgar lived in the area since 6 years of age coming from the Detroit. He graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1955 and received his bachelors of science from Michigan State in 1976. He enjoyed reading, and all of his grandchildren. For almost 35 years he was a counselor for Jackson State prison and retired in 1997. On January 27, 1962 he married Helen L. Wilcox and she survives. Also surviving are Two children, Lori (Tom Diefenthaler) Horning of Pinckney, and Richard (Nora) Bradshaw of Comstock Park, Mi., seven grandchildren and Two great-grandchildren. Brother and sister-in-laws, Tom (Fran) Wilcox of Georgia, Janice Barnett of Leslie, Ron (Amy) Wilcox of Stockbridge, and David (Sharon) Wilcox of Grass Lake. One special Aunt Alice M. Holstead of Georgia, and a Dear family friend Mike Brosnan of Stockbridge. He was preceded in death by his parents. Age 52, passed away Monday February 26, 2007 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born on September 30, 1954 in Royalton, Kentucky the son of Accie and Ellaree (Marshall) Elloitt. Mo loved working at Michigan International Speed way for the maintenance department. Drag racing , fishing , cats and spending time with his family he truly loved. On June 11, 1999 he married Robin R. Ray and she survives, also surviving are his mother of Stockbridge, four children, Heather Elloitt of Mason, Janis (Brain) Bicy of Florida, Kasey Cook and Erick Cook all of Napoleon; six brothers and sisters, Von (Denise) Fletcher of Farwell, Preston Elloitt of Jackson, Ronnie Elloitt of Stockbridge, Bonnie (Dean) DeVoe of Harbor Creek, Clark Elloitt of Leesburg, FL and Penny Marshall of Stockbridge. Also survivibg are six grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by Father. Donald R. Kasbohm

Age 75 passed away Saturday February 24, 2007. He was born on July 28, 1931 in Wells, Michigan the son of Raymond and Olive (King) Kasbohm. Don had lived in the area since 1986 coming from Plymouth, Michigan. He worked for Earth Workers for several years as an equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was also a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, and a member of the American Legion post Mackinder-Glenn 510 of Stockbridge. On October 25, 1952 he married Mary J. Saunders and she preceded him in death on September 19, 2006. Surviving are five children, Lynn (Robert) Myers of Fowlerville, Sherry (Rich) Skaggs of Howell, Ken (Irene) Kasbohm of Paris, David (Kathi) Kasbohm of Grass Lake and Donald Kasbohm of Jackson. 2 brothers, Robert (Leona) Kasbohm and John Kasbohm of Virginia also 12 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Age 18, passed away February 22, 2007. She was born on August 29, 1988 in Jackson, Michigan the daughter of Frank and Donna (Morgan) Randolph. Sherry loved to draw, write poetry and loved all kinds of music. She graduated from Scott City High School in Kansas in 2006. Surviving are her parents of Munith, two sisters, Stacy (Mark) Karrick of Perry, and Heather Randolph, age 15, living in Munith; grandparents, Hurshell (Carol) Morgan of Jackson and Max (June) Randolph of Munith; one great-grandmother, Maude Tatar, of Stockbridge; aunts and uncles, Rebecca (Jim) Crist, Julie Tatar, John (Tracy) Morgan, Sharon Borton, and Craig (Karen) Randolph; one niece, Kaci Karrick, and one nephew, Shane Karrick. Don Allen
of Stockbridge

Age 66 passed away at home surrounded by his family on February 18, 2007. He was born the son of Randolph ’Doc’ and Alma (Houston) Allen on August 12, 1940 in Oakley Creek, Kentucky. On January 25, 1958 he married Carolene Allen and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2004. One year ago he married Edna Wilson and she survives. Don enjoyed collecting things of all kinds recently he liked jeeps and golf carts. He was also known to tell very tall stories to his grandchildren. He was also known to many people in the area as a very kind and giving person. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Edna, Don is survived by his children Donald Allen, Julie (Mick) Watters, Tracy (Jeff) Howard all of Stockbridge. Also surviving are six grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as his brothers and sister Garland (Helen) Allen of Stockbridge, Danny Allen of Jackson, Terry Allen of Stockbridge and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sisters Ann Fletcher, Betty Risner, Garnie Stapleton and Mike Allen. Charles R. Eder
of Chelsea, MI

Age 72 passed away at his home on February 15, 2007. He was born the son of George J. and Elsie (Casterline) Eder on November 8, 1934 in Chelsea, Michigan. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. On September 3, 1955 he was married to Mary Ann Wheeler who preceded him in death in 1996. On April 15, 1998, he married Dorothy J. Wright and she survives. Chuck retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and making cradles for friends and family. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping turtles. Chuck enjoyed traveling up north to his cabin. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family, especially around the holidays. In addition to his wife, he is survived by Dorothy’s children: Diane Meyer of Plainwell, Donna (Jeff) Clifton of TN, Dawn (John) Bush of Allegan, David Meyer of Grand Rapids, Debra (James) Treece of Grand Rapids and Dennis (Cathy) Meyer of Grand Rapids, and 10 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters: Jim (Donna) Eder of Chelsea, Tom (Terri) Eder of Chelsea, Kay (Jim) Schook of Manchester, Rosie Eder of Chelsea; and brother-in-law, Jerry Kenney of Chelsea; as well as many nieces and nephews and special friends Gordon (Ermie) Wilkinson of Sun City, AZ. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Pat Schantz; brother Bill Eder; and sister Teenie Kenney. Age 79 passed away peacefully in her home on February 13, 2007. She was born the daughter of Doroteo and Aurora Rendon on April 6, 1927 in San Benito, Texas. She married Edmundo G. Trevino on January 22, 1950 in Brownsville, Texas and he survives. She was known to be a great cook with a welcoming home. She was a resident of Chelsea for 51 years. She enjoyed Reading, Euchre, Scrabble, watching Spanish language movies and especially playing card games with her grandchildren. Most of all she enjoyed her family and her faith. Aurora is survived by her children Ray Trevino of Chelsea, Armando “Mundy” Trevino of Chelsea, George (Alison) Trevino of Chelsea, Mario Trevino of Chelsea, Janie Trevino of Saline, Linda (Brian) Martin of Ann Arbor, Sandy (John) Hetzel of Chelsea and Bob (Karen) Trevino of Saline. Also surviving are daughters-in-law Julie Trevino of Saline and Debbie Allen of Oregon, Ohio, her brother Joaquin Rendon of California as well as 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren . Age 80, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007 at Chelsea Retirement Community, Towsley Village . She was born in Keego Harbor , Michigan on July 25, 1926 the daughter of Rolla S. and Bessie R. (Eubank) Pierce. On December 5, 1942 she married William W. Freeman in Detroit , Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1985. She had lived in the area since 1953. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chelsea and was active in the Deborah Women’s Circle. She was a volunteer for the Chelsea Hospital Auxiliary for several years. She enjoyed needlepoint and crewel work and loved being a homemaker. She is survived by her children, Rebecca Freeman of Pinckney, Ruth Freeman of Chelsea, and William N. Freeman of Green Bay , Wisconsin ; grandchildren David and Rachel Stone, Emily and Rebecca Freeman; one great-grandchild, Piper Stone; one brother, William Pierce, of Chelsea , and one sister, Maxine Burris, of Newton , Iowa . Janice I. Cornish
Of Stockbridge, MI

Age 91 Died at the Jackson Country Side Care Facility on February, 9 2007. She was born the daughter of George and Stella (Benn) Lake on February 16, 1915 in Jackson Michigan. On February 16, 1936 in Jackson she married Estel V. Cornish and he was her one and only true love. They moved from Jackson to Stockbridge in 1948 when they became co-owners of Stockbridge Manufacturing. In 1966 they built a new home on Brogan Road which she loved dearly. Janice was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Stockbridge, enjoyed gardening, making flower arrangements, plate collecting, playing cards, painting pictures, sewing, and bowling. Most of all she enjoyed going to her cabin at Thousand Island Lake and looking for drift wood and fishing. Her family was most important of all and Christmas was very special to her because that was when they were all together to enjoy one another’s company. She is survived by her son Gary (Nancy) Cornish, six grand children; Lisa (Dave) Osterholm, Gary Lee (Monica) Cornish, Ryan Cornish, Larry (Lisa) Cornish, Renee (Brian) Basore, Cindy (Dan) Kuhn, As well as 13 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law Terry Cornish; her brothers George Lake and Stuart (Hazel) Lake; her sister Dorothy Furlong and her brother-in-law; special aunts Alice Riston, Myrna Harrison, Mary Zelmanski and Margie Blanchard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Estel and her son Larry Cornish. Age 45 passed away at Foote Hospital on February 6, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was born the daughter of Herchell and Betty (Mollenkopf) Craft on June 19, 1961 in Jackson, Michigan. On May 22, 1999 in Clark Lake, MI she married Lee H. Koski and he survives. Carren worked for the State of Michigan as Personnel Specialist before retiring after 25 years of service. She enjoyed bowling, walking and golfing. She was also scared to death of roller coasters but love to ride them anyway. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband and being his silent partner in many practical jokes. In addition to her husband, She is survived by her sister Sharon (Jonathan) Tenney of Grass Lake, her mother Betty Craft of Grass Lake and her nieces and nephews; Olivia and Mitchell Tenney, Kacey and Kelly McDonnell Gena Koski, Ryan and Evan Williams and Jason And Allison Koski. David Earl Thompson
Of Dansville, MI

Age 54, died at the Chelsea Community Hospital on February 6, 2007. He was born the son of Norman and Phyllis (Davis) Thompson on December 17, 1952 in Southbend, Indiana. David loved to hunt, fish, run, ride horses, and the demolition derby. He enjoyed his work as a tree trimmer, and most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and grandkids. On January 2, 1976 he married Janet L. (Armstrong) in Clinton, MI, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, David (Liz) Thompson and Marilyn (Will) Gilbert, all of Dansville, also T.J., Jeremiah, Desirae, Brent, Kelsey, and Jacob Christi, three grandchildren: Mariah, Robby, and Casey, his brothers and sisters: Dan Thompson, Doug (Joan) Thompson, and Nancy (Tim) Stanley, all of Stockbridge, Roger (Wendy) Thompson of Missouri, and Helen (Paul) Fitzpatrick of Munith, as well as his parents. Age 46 died at the VA hospital in Ann Arbor after a long illness on February 3, 2007. Michael is a graduate of Chelsea High School in 1978 and served in the United States Army. He was known as a person who liked to work on cars, enjoyed carpentry and being handy at fixing things. He is survived by his daughters Jessica and Jasmine, his son Robert and two grandchildren. Also surviving are his parents Duane and Winona Landwerh, Brothers Dennis and Ronald and his uncle Thomas Franklin. Age 65 died at the Mt. Clemmons Hospital on February 2, 2007. She was born the daughter of Herman R. and Delores A. (Snider) Hoge on November 19, 1942 in Valparaiso, Indiana. On February 10, 1971 in Edgerton, Ohio she married Robert L. Neely and he survives. Dawn enjoyed going to the casino, traveling to different bluegrass festivals and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children; Connie (Angel) Gallardo of New Baltimore, Russle Jack of Onondaga, Kim (Dennis) Neely of Leslie, and Gene (Cheryl) Neely of Indiana. Also surviving are nine grand children and one sister Vayle (Donnie) Hunt of IN. Age 76, died Friday February 2, 2007 at Alterra Clare Bridge of Ann Arbor. She was born on November 2, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Michael and Edwina Griffith. Ginny had lived in the area since 1975. She loved teddy bears, garage sales, Longaberger baskets, and being up north at Higgins Lake. On August 23, 1952 she married John W. Gillespie in Detroit, Michigan and he preceded her in death on November 19, 2005. Surviving are one son, Michael (Cynthia) Gillespie of Chelsea, one brother David (Lynn) Griffith of Brighton, one sister-in-law, Mary Jo Griffith of Novi. Three grandchildren, Christina (Mark) Motsinger, Jessica Gillespie, and Timothy Gillespie; one grandson-in-law, Matthew Krakowiak and five great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews and cousins as well. She was also preceded in death by one son, Timothy Gillespie, her parents, two brothers, Richard and Michael Griffith and one grandaughter, Shawna Gillespie Krakowiak. She had graduated from Howell High School 1965. Sharon had served in the US Army from 1969-1972. She had lived in the Chelsea area since 1980, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She worked as an RN for Foote Hospital and the Chelsea Retirement Community Chelsea Community Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals.. She loved to travel, and one of her pastimes was collecting salt and pepper shakers. On May 16, 1980 she married James C. Bradbury, and he survives. Also surviving are four children Jennifer (George) Stickles, California, Kellie (James) Snider, of Grants Pass, Oregon, John M. Bradbury of Arizona, and Paul (Patty) Bradbury of Cave Junction, Oregon; also nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 11:00AM from St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Chelsea. Age 84, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the Eaton Community Hospice. She was born in Raglesville, Indiana on September 23, 1922 (twin sister to Elden) and the daughter of the late H. Thad and Iva E. (Chestnut) McHolland. Toni enjoyed playing bingo, crosswords, coin collecting and was a member of the VFW, Legion and the Moose in Linton, Indiana. On March 7, 1953 she married Roy E. Lowe, and he preceded her in death on January 10th, 1983. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Joseph) Acquaviva of Jackson and a daughter–in-law, Jane Hazelton of Detroit; three grandchildren, one brother, Donald Phillips, a sister Hazel Stewart of Linton, IN and numerous nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, son, William R. Lowe and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 27, 11:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Rev. Carol A. Spangenberg officiating. Age 49, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. She was born on December 16, 1957 in Jackson, Michigan the daughter of Charles and Marge (Push) Minix. Rhonda had graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1976. She then attended Brooks College in Long Beach, California and finished her Bachelor’s degree at Eastern Kentucky University. She was a seven year employee of 3M in Ann Arbor. She enjoyed golfing, cooking, and playing with her grandchildren. On May 8, 1983 she married Larry L. Howard in Waterloo, and he survives. Also surviving are her parents of Stockbridge, three children, Allisa Kunzelman of Jackson, Nicole (Brent) Stowe of Portage Lake, and Travis Howard of Houghton, MI, one brother Chuck Minix (Lezlie Fowler) of Munith; also four grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. Age 51 passed away at home on January 21,2007. she was born the daughter of William and Carol (Stark) Mcgarvey on August 19,1955 in Highland Park, MI. On August 24, 1974 she married Gregory A. Badenhoop and he survives. Corrine was a loving mother and wife, and enjoyed being a home maker and taking trips with friends. in addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Brian A. Badenhoop and Nicole J Badenhoop; and grand child Hailey Uderbrock. Also surviving are her brothers Mitch and Gregory McGarvey as well as her brother and sister- in - laws, father in law Carl Badenhoop, as well as, many nieces, nephwes, and friends. Age 54, died Sunday January 21, 2007 at Arbor Hospice Residence. She was born on February 11, 1952 in Paducah, Kentucky the daughter of Clifford and Geneva (Briney) Bolton. Lois has lived in the area most of her life and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1970. She worked for Chelsea Community Hospital for the past 17 years. Lois was a self taught Artist who delighted in painting meaningful images of interest for friends and family remembering her fondness of Lake Michigan’s shoreline. She married Charles M. Wenk in S. Lake Tahoe and had over 35 loving years together. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother of Chelsea; one sister Jennifer (Roland) Lubbinge of Elk Rapids; numerous nieces and nephews; two cousins, Barbara Golbinec of Toledo, and Edward Bolton of Kentucky; her mother-in-law Dorothy Wenk of Chelsea; brother and sister-in-laws, Donald and Paul Wenk, Marty (Carl) Hause, and Jean (Tom) Winans, Irene (Jim) Poley and Her Dog Otto. Also surviving are many special and dear friends. Age 69, passed away Sunday January 21, 2007 at her home. She was born on June 11, 1937 in Stockbridge, Michigan the daughter of George and Luada (Robeson) Marshall. Jean had lived in the area all her life and graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1955. She enjoyed knitting, crosswords, reading and watching her grandchildren grow. For 12 years she owned and operated the Dam Site Inn in Hell Michigan and retired in 1996. Jean and her husband Ted had three children and they survive , Luanne (Danny) Heinz, Mick (Julie) Watters and Jimmy Watters all of Stockbridge, as well as Her mother of Gregory and six grandchildren, Clint Heinz, Lindsey Watters, Brittany Watters, A.J. Watters, Johnny Heinz and Madyson Watters. She was preceded in death by her father and a infant sister Anne. Age 90 passed away at home surrounded by her family on January 18. She was born the daughter of Henry and Irene (Thompson) Grimes on January 26, 1916 in Stockbridge, Michigan. Kathryn enjoyed traveling, cooking cherry pies and vegetable soup, her dog Seth and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children Karen Moeckel of Munith and Diane (Doug) Craft of Lake Leann, Erma Johnson of Ann Arbor, and Harry Heldreth Jr. of California. Also surviving are her grand children Bill (Kris) Rickman, Mary (Grahm) Hoover, Lisa Hession, Kathy Craft, Phyllis Craft, John Craft, Jeff (Shari) Craft, Doug Jr. (Sara) Craft as well as, 16 great grand children and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Clayton Bartig in 1970 and Harry Heldreth in 1993, two brothers Andrew and Bernard Grimes; sister Dorothy Lindstrom; Jim Moeckel; son-in-law Bill Rickman; and her great grand daughter Katie L. Craft. Funeral services will be at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home on Saturday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Castle officiating with burial following at Mt. Hope Cemetery. David D. Rank

Age 64, passed away Monday January 15, 2007 at the Chelsea Community Hospital. He was born on September 23, 1942 in Ypsilanti, Michigan the son of the late Donald and Jeannette (Sayre) Rank. David had lived in the area since 1972. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1960. He received his B.A. from Albion College in 1964 and continued his education at Wayne State University. He worked for Kelsey-Hayes, Addison products and Kent Moore Inc.as a Director of Industrial Relations totaling 30 years. He became a realtor working for 8 years with Hometown One Inc. in Chelsea. Passed on to him by his father, David loved the out of doors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a champion of educating young people about the wonders of the outdoors. He was a active member and former president of the Chelsea Rod and Gun Club. On September 11, 1965 he married Virginia E. Avison and she survives. He was preceded in death by his sister Karen J. Herter and she had three sons that were very dear to David and Ginny, James David Herter, his namesake, Christopher J. Herter, and Matthew E. Herter. Also surviving is one uncle James Sayre and numerous cousins, his mother and father-in-law, Larry (Virginia) Avison Jr, brother-in-laws, Lance (Judy) Avison, and Chris (Connie) Avison his children, three additional Nephews; Charles C. Avison, Curtis Barnes and Patrick O. Avison. Also a good friend Joan Birgy survives. A celebration of his life will be Friday, January 19, 2007 at 1:00 PM. At the Chelsea Rod and Gun Club. Age 72, passed away Sunday January 14, 2007 at Faith Haven Senior Care Center. He was born on January 1, 1935 in Trilby, Ohio the son of Arnold and Elizabeth (Baum) Cousino. Elton had lived in the Jackson area for the past three years coming from the Leslie area. Surviving are four children, Kenny Cousino, Dawn Cousino, Steve Cousino, and Ann Marie Cousino; one sister Beulah Wittman of Stockbridge; seven brothers, John Cousino of Petersburg, MI, Joe (Gloria) Cousino of Stockbridge, Delbert (Bethel) Cousino of Salyersville, KY, Sidney Cousino of Petersburg, Carlton (Rita) Cousino of Adrian, and Tom Cousino and Keith (Diane) Cousino all of Petersburg. Several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews survive as well as a special friend Ena Risner of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Cousino in 1984 and three brothers Elwood, Donald, and Ernie Cousino and one sister Grace Cousino. Age 91, passed away Sunday January 7, 2007 at the Hazel Findlay Country Manor. He was born May 9, 1915 in Hamburg, Michigan the son of Hugo and Emilie (Hanneschlager) Ottoman. He had lived in the area all his life and was a member of K of C and St. Mary Catholic Church. Rudy was a set-up man at Federal Screw in Chelsea for 40+ years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Germany and France for 5 years. He enjoyed baseball games, hunting, fishing and trapping. He was married to Bernice (Dambrun) Ottoman and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2001. Surviving are three brothers Joseph (Dorothy) Ottoman of Chelsea, Albert Ottoman of Ann Arbor and Walter (madeline) Ottoman of Chelsea, one sister Mary (Thomas) Kitlel of Ann Arbor; one sister-in-law Blanche Ottoman of Chelsea. Also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bernice two brothers Edward and Clarence Ottoman, and his sister-in-law Kathleen Ottoman. Dora Mae Crandall

Age 96, passed away Saturday January 6, 2007 at the Stockbridge Country Manor. She was born on June 9, 1910 in White Oak Township to the daughter of Earl and Olive (Carpenter) Walker. She taught school in Ingham, Jackson, and Livingston Counties for 27 years. She loved to garden and talk about the good old days. She was married to Bruce Howlett in 1930 and they had two sons, Robert Keith (Barbara) Howlett of Pleasant Lake and Linwood Anson (Marlene) Howlett of Webberville. Then she married Lawrence Crandall in 1960 and he has two children, Glen (Janette) of New Mexico, and Ruth (Neil) West of Webberville. also surviving are several grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a few great-great-grandchildren as well as one sister Helen Curtis and several nieces and nephews. Age 70 died at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit on January 6, 2007. She was born the daughter of Elbert and Rosie (Nolen) Griffith on April 25, 1936 in Floyd County, Kentucky. On September 2, 2001 she married Tanzle Little and he survives. Magaline enjoyed quilting, crocheting, coloring, and being outside to work in the garden. Most of all she loved the Lord and attending Mt. Olive Old Regular Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sisters; Carrie, Sally, Marzellas, and Nancy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband John Moore and her brothers and sisters. Age 77 passed away at home surrounded by her family on January 5, 2007.She was born the daughter of John and Marcella (Fuller) Mearnic on June 8, 1929 in Tunnel Hill, Pennsylvania. On November 29, 1947 she marriedCharles Watkins and he survives. Dorothy was proud to be a home body, she loved to cook, grow roses, and take care of her family her children said ’every day was Sunday dinner’. She also was very devoted in helping with the care of her granddaughter Stephanie. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; Judith (Dennis) Ferrell of Dexter, Guy C.(Roxanne) Watkins of Indian River, MI, Patricia A. Watkins of Dexter, Deborah K. Watkins of Whitmore Lake, Kathy C. (John) Carroll of Chelsea, and Connie M. (Marc) Toma of Dexter. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren with one on the way; and her sisters Mary Kietur, Shirley (Jim) Gibson, and Marilyn (Jim) Knolfski. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother George Mearnic; sisters Julia Henry and Betty Wolfe. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Paula Watkins. George L. Staffan

Age 95, passed away January 1, 2007 at his cabin at Luzerne, MI. He was born February 12, 1911, the son of George P. and Mae (Wood) Staffan. George was the former owner of the Staffan Funeral Home which his grandfather started in 1853 and he was the oldest living Funeral Director in the state of Michigan. George was also a former member of the Chelsea Village Council and a member of Kiwanis. He was married to Kathryn A. (Hindelang) Staffan on November 28, 1932 and she survives. Also surviving is a son, George A. Staffan; a sister, Katherine Wagner; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Ingles; three granddaughters, Susan Lundgren, Kristin (Paul) Rossi and Andrea Staffan; several nieces and nephews; Frederick (Margaret) Wagner, John (Wendy) Wagner and Stephanie Kanten; brother-in-law, Victor (Dorothy) Hindelang and a sister-in-law, Gertrude Hindelang; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 5, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Age 85 (Grams) passed away at Foote Hospital on January 1, 2006. She was born the daughter of Ralph and Iva (Horner) Keezer on September 1, 1921 in Defiance, Ohio. In September of 1971 she married William Eder and he preceded her in death in 1984. Dolores served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946, she enjoyed gardening, baking pies, crocheting, reading, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Surviving is her daughter Pamela (Jerry) Barnett of Jackson; two grandchildren Candice Risner of Jackson, Tara Cochran of Jackson; two great grandchildren Cameron Foster and Skye Foster both of Jackson. Also surviving are her brothers and sister Bill (Ardis) Keezer of East Lansing, Don Keezer of Manchester, Mike (Edna) Keezer of Manchester, Maxine Benedict of Manchester, and many nieces, nephews, and special friends, Linda Griffith, Clyde Woodman, and Eugene L’ Huiller. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister; Dale Keezer, Elwood Keezer, Chester Keezer,Ken Keezer, Helen Benedict and Walter Keezer.
