Dick had lived in the area most of his life and retired from the Chelsea Milling Corporation as foreman after 38 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Army. Dick was a member of Inverness Country Club and recently received life membership status. He enjoyed Great Lakes fishing, playing cards, watching Tiger baseball, traveling to Florida in the winter months, and working at Lake Forrest Golf Club mowing grass. On November 15, 1955 he married Dorothy Salyer and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2003. Surviving are two sons Danny (Becky) Allen of Grass Lake and Michael (Amy) Fouty of Chelsea, two brothers, Alva (Delores) Fouty of Chelsea, and Wallace Fouty of Jackson; two sisters, Inez (Rick) Bunton of Ann Arbor and Gloria Logan of Michigan Center. Also surviving are five grandchildren three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Helen Fouty of Ann Arbor, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Norm and Gordon Fouty. Don had attended North Lake United Methodist Church for several years and helped build the social center behind the sanctuary. Don was well know in the area for this masonry and contracting skills. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he loved his family and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had worked for the Dana Corporation in Chelsea for 26 years as a machine operator as well. Don was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy from December 1944 to July of 1946. On July 17, 1948 he married Mary J. Edinger and she survives, also surviving are 2 children, Kathy (Roger) Heckaman of Norvell, Mi., and David (Michal) Porath of Ann Arbor, 3 brothers, Warren Sr. (Rosetta) Porath of Chelsea, Larry (Janet) Porath of Houghton Lake and Harold (Joan) Porath of Munith. 4 grandchildren, Christina Moore, Eric Heckaman, Ben Porath, and Jon Porath, 2 great-grandchildren Brittney and Macy Moore. Lived 96 years in Jackson and Stockbridge and now has joined her husband in her new home in heaven. She passed away at Trellis Gardens in Jackson on Wednesday, August 10, 2005. Anahdell was born on July 18, 1909 to Wilbur and Sylvia (Stringham) Eckerson on the family's centennial farm where she lived a good, full life for over 80 years. She was married to Leonard C. Fink for more than sixty years when he passed away in 1992. She also was preceded in death by her brother Earl Eckerson. Anahdell graduated from Jackson High School and Jackson Business College. She was a member of Ganson Street Baptist Church. Anahdell is survived by her son, James Fink of Traverse City and two daughters, Jean (Don) Krummrey of Stockbridge and Jane (Roger) Buchholtz of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Steve (Kathy) Krummrey of Munith, Larry (Mary) Krummrey of Stockbridge, Deborah (Jeff) Hiemstra of Kalamazoo, and Brian (Rebecca) Buchholtz of Erie, Colorado. She also leaves six great grandchildren, David, Cindy, Douglas, and Jacob Krummrey, and Lindsey and Alaina Hiemstra; and several nieces and nephews. She was an avid fan of Detroit professional sports especially the Red Wings. She loved being outdoors with her two dogs Moe and Baber but most of all, she loved her grand children. She is survived by her children; David A. (Flora) Dawson of Las Vegas, NV, Rebecca A. Dawson of Munith, Elizabeth F. Dawson of Waterloo Twp. and Carol L. Dawson of Waterloo Twp. O’Brien, and she survives. On October 13, 1937 he married Alvera Moon and she survives. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Dexter, a Worshipful Master of the Masons, a member of the Elks Club, and Zal Grotto in Ann Arbor. Floyd was also a past Mayor of Dexter, and Supervisor of Scio Township. In his younger days Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during vacations. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children Floyd L. (Judy) Layton of Higgins Lake, Pat (Dave) Coval of Dexter, and Sandy (Bob) Briggson of Mesa Arizona. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren; Eric Layton of Traverse City, Erin Layton of Houghton Lake, Scott Layton of Higgins Lake, Julie (Ted) Stilber of Dexter, Michael (Dawn) Coval of East Grand Rapids, Jan (Drew) Stirton of Novi, Rob (Janice) Briggson of Brighton and nine great grandchildren. He was born on March 22, 1922 to Ralph and Lillie (Galbreath) Hartley in Noblesville IN. on August 15, 1947, in Fitchburg, he married Merilyn Onalee Batdorf and she survives. Deacon Hartley was a man of great strength and generosity, who lived his life loving his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. His humor and kindness enriched the warm household he built with his cherished wife, Onalee. Deacon served his Country in WWII from August 19, 1942 - December 3, 1945, Army, Battery 'B' 196th Field Artillery Battalion. He fought 11 months in the European Theatre as a P.F.C. and earned 5 battle stars. He was a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge and the American Legion, Stockbridge .Deacon worked at North American Rockwell in Chelsea for 34 years 10 months, from August 1940 until his retirement in June 1975. He belonged to the Munith Rod and Gun Club where he served as Treasurer for many years. In his younger years, Deacon enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement, he began displaying his talent in woodwork by carving various kinds of ducks, birds, fish, sailboats and elaborate canes out of palm blossoms. He also enjoyed bird and animal watching and playing the bones. He is survived by his children; Daniel L. (Gail) Hartley, Dennis L. (Laureen) Hartley and Clifford A. (Dawn) Hartley. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Nathan Hartley, Christopher Hartley, Jeremy Hartley, Brian Hartley, Danielle Hartley, Kee Hartley, Heather Hartley-Black, Brooke Hartley, great grandchildren; Taylor Hartley, Rebecca Hartley, Emma Hartley, Elijah Hartley, and Stephen Hartley. She has had the thrill and honor of watching her family grow and prosper; becoming young adults that she is so very proud of. Age 21, passed away Friday April 29, 2005 at his home. He was born on May 17, 1983 in Wayne , Michigan the son of Gary and Lori (Roberts) Hinman. Christopher graduated from Stockbridge High School in 2002. He enjoyed Fishing, Playing and watching all kind of sports, cleaning and organizing, and spending time with his family. On February 13, 2005 he married Jodie Furtney in Pinckney and she survives. Also surviving are, his father Gary (Debra May) of Skidway Lake, his mother, Lori (Mark Ware) of Gregory, His mother-in-law, Carol Furtney of Gregory, 2 brothers, James Roberts of Columbia SC., Ryan Elliott of Munith and Ashley Roberts of Munith. Material grandmother, Joyce Roberts of Penn., Paternal grandparents, Evelyn Lee of Skidway Lake, and Charles Hinman of Hartford. Several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Roberts, and his father-in-law Leo Furtney. A memorial services will be held on Wednesday May 4, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. from the Pinckney Community Church UCC with Rev Larry E. Van Slambrook officiating.
