Lyn Yarows
of Dexter

Beloved wife of Steven A. Yarows, M.D. and dear mother of twin children Kevin E. and Kristen C. Yarows, died Tuesday morning, September 26, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 2, 1955, the daughter of Edward J. and Wilma Worden. Lyn moved to Michigan in 1980 to continue her nursing career and shortly after married Steve in Dexter on September 22, 1984. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dexter where she had been a religious education teacher and mentor. Lyn will be remembered as an active community volunteer and a proud member of the Steeler Nation. Currently, Lyn was serving on the Boards of the J.C. Banfield Foundation and the Education Foundation of Dexter. Surviving are her siblings Suzanne (Bob) Fagan of Wildwood, New Jersey, Kathy (Mike) Gandley of Ypsilanti, Bernard Worden, and Ed (Debbie) Worden of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by nephews Jesse Gandley and Daniel Schurgin. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Marguerite Worden. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dexter, with Rev. Brendan J. Walsh and Rabbi Robert Levi officiating. The family will receive friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, 901 North Main Street, Chelsea on Wednesday from 6-8p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. with the Wake at 7:00 p.m. Friends will also be received at the church on Friday from 9:00am until 10:00. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the J. C. Banfield Foundation, American Lung Assoc., Chelsea Community Hospital, Cat Scan Program or St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund. Florence M. Gentner
Of Saline, formerly of
Chelsea, MI.


Age 101, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Saline Evangelical Home. She was born on July 29, 1905 in Lima Township the daughter of the late Frank and Myrtle (Kraft) Abdon. Florence took great pride in her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to travel. She and her husband Floyd and the family visited many states of the union, using all modes of transportation, automobiles, trains, plane and boat. She enjoyed visiting one of her favorite destinations, Hawaii, several times, as well as a trip to Switzerland, France, and Germany. Her hobbies included reading, and caring for her many houseplants and garden flowers, and she never turned down an opportunity to go shopping. She was a life long member of the First Congregational Church of Chelsea and was married in the church parsonage on May 8, 1925. Other than a brief period in Dexter and Ann Arbor following her marriage, Florence spent her entire life in Chelsea. She enjoyed visiting other parts in the world, but always was pleased to return to her home and family in Chelsea. In February 2004, Florence moved from her home in Chelsea to the Saline Evangelical Home. On July 28, 2005 a party was held at the Saline Evangelical Home to honor Florence on her 100th birthday. The party, attended by 30 friends and family members, was a huge success. Florence enjoyed the festivities and even wore a Tiara given to her by one of her granddaughters. In July 2006 , a small party was held in honor of her 101st birthday, and yes, she even blew out all the candles. Surviving are three sons, Ronald (Nancy) Gentner of Stockbridge, Duane (Carole) Gentner of Parker, CO, and Terry Gentner of Chelsea, one brother Robert Abdon of Chelsea, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Gentner on September 6, 1983, four sisters, Oleta Abdon, Ethel Abdon, Elnora Wright, and Nell Pierce, also two brothers, Richard Abdon and Russell Abdon. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Rev. Dr. Barbara Wright officiating. Janet Kay Taylor
Of Gregory, Michigan

Age 65, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born October 11, 1940 in Jackson Michigan, daughter of Kenneth and Myrtle (Little) Mushbach. She had many joys in life, her grandchildren were a huge part of that. You were sure to find her enjoying the 4-H fair, along with cheering her children and grandchildren on at their sporting events. She enjoyed working on her crossword puzzles and found humor in watching game shows. She will forever be known as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Janet married Joe E. Taylor on October 6, 1962 in Munith Michigan, and he survives. Also surviving are her children, Julie Jo Wilson, Jeff J. (Tammy) Taylor of Dexter, Jonathon J. (Amy) Taylor of Gregory, Jake J. (Christy) Taylor of Munith, and Jodi J. Taylor of Gregory. In addition, she has ten grandchildren surviving; Amanda, Jennifer, Jordyn, Jeanni, Katie, Courtney, Emalie, Breanna, Collin and Jessica. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 20, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with the Rev. Judy Darling officiating. Fred J. Schaff
of Stockbridge, MI
formerly of Chelsea, MI

Age 92, died on Saturday, September 16, 2006. He was born January 14, 1914 in St. Louis Missouri, the son of Fred and Terrsa (Stanks) Schaff. He enjoyed golf, carving and bowling. He was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing and loved swing music. He was a quiet man with a great sense of wit. In 1981 he married Mavis Glenn in Ann Arbor, MI and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Fred (Paula) Schaff of Florida, Glenna (Jerry) Runciman of Stockbridge, and Ed (Linda Hoffman) Simonds of Stockbridge, three grandchildren,10 great grandchildren and his niece Connie Harry. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his first wife Marian, two sisters, Helen Clark and Margaret Wiselogle, and a grandson Tom Schaff. David A. Greenamyer
of Stockbridge Township, Michigan

Age 83, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at his farm under the loving care of his family. He was born December 19, 1922 in Chicago Illinois, the son of Elmer and Ella Greenamyer. He loved farming, his family and the outdoors. He was a long time member of the MMPA, Farm Bureau and the NRA. He married Marjorie Cowing on January 20, 1946 and she preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Greenamyer is survived by his children, Bonnie Miller of Kalamazoo, Terry (Douglas) Sommer of Stockbridge, and Kelley Greenamyer of Pleasant Lake; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his two older sisters, Margaret Greenamyer and Gertrude Troupe. Delores J. Carroll
Of Munith, MI

Age 64, passed away at her sister’s home on Sunday, September 10, 2006. She was born October 20, 1941 in Magoffin County Kentucky, the daughter of Claud and Bertie (Sparks) Risner. She had lived in the area since she was seven years old. On June 20, 1960 she married Lowrensa D. Carroll in Bunker Hill, and he survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Holly (Brad) Smith of Stockbridge, and Checotah (Kevin) Theaker of Munith; also nine siblings: Jimmy Risner of Munith, Annabell (Willard) Howard, Jerry (Cheryl) Risner, Paul (Connie) Risner, Ellen (Gordon) Craft, Barb Risner, and Vivian Risner, all of Stockbridge, Carolyn (Elbert) Owens of S. Milford, IN, and Richard (Nadine) Risner, of Dansville; also four grandchildren one sister-in-law Curlean (Jerry) Wilson of Jackson. Delores graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1960 and furthered her education at Jackson Community College earning her degree in Business Administration. Delores worked for Western Stamping and retired from DANA Corporation in Chelsea after 30 years. She enjoyed garage sales, golf, and sewing, making all of her kid’s clothes. She loved spending time with her look a-like sister Annabell and the ’beauty shop tales’ on Saturdays. She loved going to church, and attended the Good Shepherd Mission, as well as the Gregory Family Tabernacle Church. She especially liked Gospel music and sang with the Gloryland singers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law Betty Risner, and a great-niece Kalyn. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with Parson Billy Allen, Dennis Courter and Jeff Howard co-officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Stockbridge. Joyce B. Sysol
of Unadilla Township, Mi.

Age, 64, passed away Thursday September 7, 2006 at her home. She was born on May 4, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Clifford and Margaret (Bordine) Thompson. She had lived in the area for the past 30 years coming from Plymouth. She was involved with the Chelsea Painters, and was active in the Unadilla Presbyterian Church. Flowers, gardening yellow roses and her grandchildren she truly loved. On September 21, 1960 she married her true love Joseph S. Sysol in Redford Township, and he survives. Also surviving are three sons, John (Maggie) Sysol of Adrian, Jeff (Karen) Sysol of Michigan Center and James (Amy) Sysol of Michigan Center, one daughter Jodi (Thomas) McCoy of Manchester, two sisters, Diane Hartwick of Livonia and Cheryl (Dave) Redoutey of Holly, Mi., 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also several nieces and nephews and special friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday September 11, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from the Unadilla Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Qiu officiating. Audrey Martin of

Age 62 died at Toledo Hospital on Friday, September 1, 2006. She was born in Jeff, Kentucky on January 1, 1944 to Troy and Mary (Lyttle) Tincher. On February 27, 1965 she married Ronald J. Martin and he survives. Audrey enjoyed playing cards and going to the casinos especially in January for her ’Girls Trip’. She was a member of the Ypsilanti OES, a past Mother Advisor of the Rainbow and loved playing video games with her grand kids. Audrey also loved taking care of her babies, both at work and her own at home. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Mary (John) Thompson of Adrian, William Martin of Tecumseh, Buffy Kazmierczack of Tecumseh; her brothers and sisters; Sandy (Errol) Schuman of Clayton, MI, Sheila Hall of Tecumseh, and Randy (Lori) Tincher of Dundee, MI. Audrey is also survived by 10 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Scott Martin; daughter-in-law Lisa Martin and baby TJ; brother Roger Tincher and nephew Duane Schuman. Norma J. McCann

Age 77, passed away Sunday August 27, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital. She was born on June 17, 1929 in Stockbridge, Michigan the daughter of Erwin and Bernita (Beaman) Nott. She was a 50 plus year member of Ss Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church and 25 year 4-H leader. On July 1, 1946 she married James J. McCann and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1999. Surviving are, one son Dennis (Tina) McCann two daughters, Linda (Terry) Ream and Karen (Jim) Norris all of Leslie. Also survivng are seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; inaddition two brothers Robert Nott of Munith, Rick (Jan) Nott of Gregory, and one sister-in-law Ruth Nott. She was also preceded in death by one brother Richard Nott and her parents. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM. From Ss Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church with Rev. Eartie E. Wright

Age 89, passed away Friday August 18, 2006 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. She was born on August 5, 1917 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky the daughter of Tipton and Susan (Turner) Collins. She had lived in the area since 1958 coming from Louisville, KY. Favorite pastimes were Reading and her grandchildren. Surviving are six children, Scotty (Cindy) Collins of Florida, Norma (David) Hanson of Mason, Linda (Gary) Baldwin of Stockbridge, Tresia Thurman of Litchfield, Ronald Wright of Florida, and Michael Steven Wright of Jackson. also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Wright in 1988 two sisters and one brother. Buck Elam Hicks
Of Munith

Passed away August 17, 2006 at home, at the age of 71, due to a 17 year fight with Parkinson’s. He was preceded in death by his father William Hicks and mother Elsie (Hale) Hicks, two brothers, Jesse and Jackey and one sister, Gracie. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita, his daughters, Gail (Jim) Wright of Munith, Tina (Patrick) Clifford of Clinton Twp., his sons, William (Janet) Hicks of Munith, Thomas Hicks of Munith, Michael (Lisa) Hicks of Pleasant Lake, 12 grandchildren, James III & Megan Wright, Ashley, Amber & Andrea Clifford, William Jr., Anthony (Tony), Jamie, Crystal & Joey Hicks, Ashley & Leah Hicks, and one great-granddaughter Katelynn. He is also survived by his 5 brothers Kenneth, Walter, Rheuben, Estill and Clark. He was a dedicated employee of Goodyear for 30 years. He was a much loved husband, fathers, grandfather, great- grandfather and brother, and he will be greatly missed by all. May God hold him in His loving hands to love and protect him until we are reunited in heaven. Doris G. Donohue

Age 88, passed away Thursday evening August 17, 2006 at her daughter’s home. She was born on February 7, 1918 in Iosco, Township, the daughter of Martin and Elva (Caskey) Anderson. Doris owned and operated Gregory Beauty Salon for nearly 50 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pinckney and enjoyed traveling, quarter horses and her grandchildren. On September 27, 1947 she married John ’Jake’Donohue, and he preceded her in death in October of 1996. Surviving are her daughter Judy (Robert) Williams of Gregory, six grandchildren, John (Rachel) Sweet, Patrick (Teri) Sweet, Michael (Jessica) Sweet, Shon (Sarah) Williams, Scott (Laurie) Williams and Robin Williams, and 9 great grandchildren. One brother, Robert Anderson of Webberville, and three sisters Sena Anderson of Owosso, Elizabeth Presinger of Mason and Alberta Holbrock of Owosso. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Donohue in 1968, and two brothers, Clayton Anderson and M.G. Anderson. Phillip D. Carpenter

Age 51, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006 at his home. He was born on September 20, 1954, in Stockbridge, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carrie, his parents Dorsie and Edna, and three brothers, Earnest, Gordon and Jack. Surviving is his wife, Terri, his son, Chase, two sisters, Joan (Ron) Angonese and Rhonda Onderdonk of Ann Arbor, and two brothers, D.J. (Penny) Carpenter of Florida, and Larry (Vera) Carpenter of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea with Parson Billy Allen officiating. George Edward Hardy
of Lincoln, MI

Age 82 died at the Sunrise Care Facility in Ann Arbor on August 4, 2006. HE was born the son of Webster and Leah (Green) Hardy on June 16, 1924 in Ypsilanti, MI. On December 29, 1944 he married Maxine J. Borusch and she survives. Mr. Hardy worked at Paul C. Chapman and Son in Ypsilanti for 35 years. In 1988 he and Maxine moved to Lincoln. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family. Along with his wife he is survived by his children; Judy (Bruce) Park of Chelsea, Janice Coon of Ann Arbor, Jim Hardy of Ann Arbor, and Jane Wollard of Ypsilanti. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Robert (Theresa) Coon Sr., Michael Park, Jennifer (Dr. Julius) Few, Heather (Jeff) Gauntlett, Lisa (Derrick) Dabbs, Jack Coon Jr., and Zac Coon; great grandchildren Robert Coon, Kaden Coon and Miles Few. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters; Clark (Delphine) Hardy John (Margaret) Hardy and Clifford (Carol) Hardy; his sister Nelva Whitt and his sister-in-law Beualah Hardy. George was preceded in death by his parents and brother Edgar Hardy. At the request of George and his family cremation has taken place with a private family service. Mark A. Bach

Age 45, died Tuesday morning August 1, 2006 at University of

Michigan Hospital. He was born May 29, 1961 in Royal Oak, Michigan.

The son of Anthony M. and Nancy J. (Judy) Godin Bach. Mark is survived by his wife JoAnn M. Kassmann, whom he married in Chelsea on June 21,

1996. Mark had been a resident of Chelsea for the past ten years. Mr. Bach was the manager for inside sales at KSS Enterprises in Jackson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and antique boating. NASCAR and his computer were favorite pastimes. Mark was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chelsea. Surviving in addition to his wife, are two children Angie Bach and Anthony Bach of Dexter; his parents of Troy, Michigan; his brother Mike (Ellen) Bach of Chelsea, two sisters; Margaret Bach of Troy, Michigan and Mary Alice (Dave) Misz of Sterling Heights; five nephews and one niece. Also surviving are his mother and father in law, Joe and Ann Kassmann of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Mark’s former wife Diane Bach of Dexter. The funeral mass will be held Friday August 4, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner officiating. The Vigil will be held Thursday Aug. 3 at 8:00 PM at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home; where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Verna Rena Marshall

Passed away July 29, 2006 in Lansing at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents Archie and Lela Sharland, her husband Stanley Marshall, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Philip) Fanson, sons Robert (Louise) and Dorwin (Rosalie) Marshall all of Stockbridge. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at the Millville United Methodist church Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Robert J. Freysinger officiating. Harry E. Burnett
Of Chelsea, formerly of
Dexter, MI

Age 56, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. He was born on October 21, 1949 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of Harry Jr. and Marjorie (Umstead) Burnett. Harry was a truck driver for R&L Carriers for 13 years retiring in 2001. He loved hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. On December 26, 1971 he married Deborah A. Williams in Dexter and she survives. Also surviving are his mother of Jackson and his father of Florida, four children, Jason Burnett of Michigan, Heather (Steve) Bohnette of Milan, Harry Burnett IV of Chelsea, and Beth (Jason) Hewitt of Chelsea, one brother, Tony (Laura) Burnett of Florida, and one sister, Tamie Petty of Jackson, MI, four grandchildren, Devin, Cody, Morgan, and Kyle. Sister and brother-in-laws, Sherry (Bruce) Parks of Ann Arbor, and Brent Williams of Ann Arbor, and Steve Williams of Saline. Several nieces and nephews and cousins. Also special friends Robert ’Bud’ and Joyce Freysinger. Fletcher, Zorri Mae
Stockbridge, MI

Passed away at home under the loving care of her family and Great Lakes Hospice Monday July 24, 2006 at the age of 84. She was born on April 17, 1922 in Salyersville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Newton and Emily Marshall Cole, both of Kentucky where 13 children were born of this union of which 11 are deceased. Zorri is survived by a brother Elmer Cole and a sister Shug Cole, both of Kentucky. Zorri is also survived by numerous half sisters and brothers. She married Orville Hughes on May 23, 1936. They were married for 43 years. Orville preceded her in death on August 9, 1979. She married Homer Fletcher on November 21, 1980. They were married for 15 years. Homer preceded her in death on August 6, 1995. Zorri is survived by seven children, a son Paul (Jody) Hughes of Dolan Springs, AZ; daughter Pearl (John) Sparks of Kingman, Arizona; daughter Cinda (Keith) Patrick of Jackson, Michigan; daughter Thelma (Colbert) Smith of Stockbridge, Michigan; daughter Ruth (Harold) Brown of Parma, Michigan; daughter Kathy (Bob) Stone of Leslie, Michigan; daughter Jody (Steve) Poe of Jackson, Michigan. Zorri is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,four grandchildren; Arlene Marie Pickard, Phillip Wayne Hughes, Derek Shane Smith and Brian Keith Patrick and two great-grandchildren; Nicole Marie Kirk and Thomas Keith Hackworth. She has been a member of The Church of Christ for 70 years. Her love of God has always been an inspiration for her family. She loved spending time with her children and numerous grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and spending time with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was such a compassionate soul that wherever she went, she was well-loved. Friends may call at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, 424 East Main, Stockbridge, Michigan on Tues. 6-9 p.m.and Wed. 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. .Funeral services will be held at The Church of Christ, Stockbridge, Michigan Thursday July 27, 2006 at 1 p.m. with Larrel Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Stockbridge, Michigan. Dinner will follow in The Church of Christ basement. Donations on behalf of Zorri Fletcher may be made to The Church of Christ.

Lucy M. Schiller
Of Ann Arbor

Age 57, died unexpectedly Saturday July 22, 2006 at her home of natural causes. She was born July 5, 1949 in Tecumseh, Michigan, the daughter of Elwyn R. and Vonda L. (Dresselhouse) Schiller. Lucy graduated form Central Michigan University in 1971 and lived in the Bay City area from 1971-1995. She had taught school there and was also a former executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Midland and Caro. From 1995 until her death she was employed at the University of Michigan. Lucy received her masters degree in 2000 from U of M and at the time of her death was a resource librarian in pediatric research at the University. Lucy loved to work in flower gardens. She was artistic and enjoyed stained glass, countedcross stitch and glass bead jewelry and was an accomplished web designer. Surviving are her mother of Gregory, a sister and three brothersAudie M. Hampshire of Portland, Ore., Charles M. Schiller of Pinckney, Neil (Diane) Schiller of Bloomingdale, Mi., and LeRoy (Dawn) Schiller of Rives Junction, nieces and nephews Steve, Andrea, Jessica, Monica, Zack and Parker and several great nieces and nephews. An adopted sister Rosie Blackwell of Waterloo. Also surviving is her canine companion Molly and feline companions Jasper and Nudge. Lucy was preceded in death by her father in 2004. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 26 at 6:00 PM at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home with Rev. Kathy Schellofficiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Wed. 2-4 PM at the funeral home. Rather than flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation or the Washtenaw County Humane Society.

Jerry Lee Beauchamp


Jerry, age 62 passed away Saturday, July 15, 2006 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born June 13, 1944 in Columbia, Tennessee, the son of Ted Beauchamp and Aline (Beauchamp) Dixon. After graduating from Stockbridge High School in 1962 he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Sawyer Air Base near Marquette, MI. Jerry was an excavation contractor and restorer of antique tractors, he owned and operated M0-Ex Corp. in Punta Gorda for many years. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Sutton) Beauchamp, his mother, Aline (Lacerne) Dixon, of Munith, MI., his sister, Nina (Lee) Redinger of Wausau, WI, a daughter and son, Gigi (Randy) Kangas and Heath Beauchamp both of Nagaunee, MI. and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Bettye Beauchamp. Service arrangements are being handled by the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home in Stockbridge. Visitation will be held on Thursday 6 - 8 p.m. and the service will be at the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
