Loving husband of Debra and loving father to Vanessa and Leah passed away on November 26, in Chelsea at the age of 52. He was born the son of Charles E. Sr. and Charlotte (Williams) Campbell on October 9, 1954 in Huntington, Indiana. On August 3, 1974 he married his high school sweetheart Debra Dowden and she survives. Charles was known as a hardworker that enjoyed working on his house or in his garden. He was very funloving and put the needs of others before his own. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughters Vanessa (Michael) Haight of Minneapolis, MN and Leah Campbell of Stockbridge. Also surviving is his brother Cliff (Debi) Campbell of Waterford, Debra’s parents, Kenneth and Mary Dowden of Hunington, IN and many brother and sister-in-laws as well as nieces and nephews. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Lea’s educational fund. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home in Stockbridge.

Age 79, passed away Friday November 24, 2006 at W.A. Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. He was born on July 1, 1927 in Magoffin County Kentucky the son of William Sr. and Dora (Patton) Horn. Luther had lived in the area since 1938 coming from Kentucky. He worked for the Oldsmobile car company for 30 years in Lansing. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and a very active member of the Church of Christ in Stockbridge. On September 6, 1952 he married Evagene Fletcher and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2005. Surviving are Four children, Tony Horn of Mesick, Patricia Horn of Dansville, Vicky (Bill) Luppo of Jackson and Phillip Horn of Mesick. Two brothers, William Jr. (Ethel) Horn of Stockbridge, and Bill (Della) Horn of Cooksville, Tenn. Six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by one son, John E. Horn and Three brothers, Clifford, Calvin, and Earmol Horn and one sister, Melva Slayden. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM. from the Stockbridge Church of Christ with Larrel Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Stockbridge. Age 77 passed away at Foote Hospital in Jackson, Michigan on November 19, 2006. He was born the son of Bill and Mintie (Atckins) Thornsbury on March 29, 1929 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He enjoyed the outdoors, deer hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, bluegrass music and spending time with his grandchildren. Morton is survived by his children; Charlie (Pam) Thornsbury of Munith; Morton (Brenda) Thornsbury of Leslie; Walter (Pam) Thornsbury of Crosby, Texas; Irene (Alvin) Craft of Pleasant Lake; Karen, Kenny and Mary Thornsbury all of Jackson and Laurie Urbaniak of Rives Junction. Also surviving is a brother, William Jr. of Leslie; four sisters, Becky (Alfred) Rushlow of Detroit; Bethel Bradley of Dansville; Maggie Minix of Jackson and Thelme (Ronald) Rushlow of Leslie. He has 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Jimmy; brothers, Milie and George; and two sisters, Ethel Bradley and Dorothy Bailey. She was the head pastry cook at Grace Hospital in Toronto, Ohio from 1945 to 1950. Mary also owned and operated a Beauty shop for several years. Age 78, passed away in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by her family on November 15, 2006. She was born the daughter of Jesse and Violet (Becker) Bugard on May 6, 1928 in Fowlerville, Michigan. On December 28, 1946 she married Kenneth L. Caskey in Fowlerville, and he preceded her in death in 1982. Shirley is survived by her children, Gary Caskey of Charlotte, Rod (Joanne Tadgerson) Caskey of Mason, Christine (Dan) Lowe of Howell, and Maribeth (Wes) Campbell of Hartland, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; also one sister Muriel Epley, and several nieces and nephews. She was born on March 22, 1914 in South Bend, Indiana the daughter of Alexander and Minnie (Fredericks) Griffin and sister of Gerald. After moving to Sylvan Center and working in the family business she met and married George N. Welch on November 9, 1933 and remained in Sylvan until they moved to Florida in 1968. She was an active member of the Salem Grove Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and volunteer. She was a 4-H leader, foster parent and secretary to the Maple Grove Cemetery during her lifetime in the Chelsea area. She loved to travel, read, paint and was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed fishing and hunting and spent times roaming the Sugar Loaf Lake property her father developed. Surviving is, one daughter, Judy A.(Michael) Johns of Saline. Grandchildren: Kenneth M. Johns of Saline and Stacey A. (Jason) Reeves of Ann Arbor and Great Grandchildren, Sonya and Emmett Reeves. A memorial service will be Monday, November 20, 2006 at 2:30 at the Chelsea Retirement Community Towsley Chapel with Rev. Beth Foster officiating. Loving wife of James M. Benedict passed away on Friday, November, 10 at the age of 46. She was born the daughter of James and Annette (Eldrington) Thiellesen on July 29, 1960 in Detroit Michigan. On June 9, 1995 she married James Michael Benedict and he survives. Kim was known as an animal lover as seen by her ’pack of raccoons’ and her pet cats. She was also the protector in the family, and would allow anyone to lean on her for support. She enjoyed traveling to Florida when she was able and also liked to ride Harley’s with Jim and also encouraged him to ride when she was no longer able to go, Kim had a huge heart. In addition to her husband, Kim is survived by her brothers and sisters; Kathy Davenport of Alabama, Annette (Mark) Dickenson of Mio, twin brother, James Thiellesen of New Hudson, John Thiellesen of Toledo, OH, Rene’ (Kirk) Sweet of Northville, Joe (Colleen) Thiellesen of Fenton and many special nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Jim’s parents; Agnes and James Benedict of Trenton, formerly of Allan Park, his brother; Mark (Julie) Benedict and his sister; Jane (Bob) Rich. Stoker in Chelsea and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2005. Surviving are six children, Jim (Kaye) Taylor of Chelsea, Tom Taylor of Chelsea, John (Kathryn) Taylor of Chelsea, Debbie (Rev. Jim) Merrill of Florida, Lisa Bertke of Whitmore Lake, and Valerie (Kent) Mayhall of Texas, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also surviving are two sisters, Lois Walters of Ohio, and Frances (Robert) Patrick of Kentucky as well as several nieces and nephews. She was born on December 25, 1922 in Ironwood, Michigan the daughter of George and Suzanna (Kanter) Heczko. Amelia had lived in the area for the past six years coming from New Port Richey, Florida. She enjoyed cooking, her family and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On September 5, 1942 she married Toivo ’Toby’ Johnson, and he preceded her in death. She was born on December 25, 1922 in Ironwood, Michigan the daughter of George and Suzanna (Kanter) Heczko. Amelia had lived in the area for the past six years coming from New Port Richey, Florida. She enjoyed cooking, her family and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On September 5, 1942 she married Toivo ’Toby’ Johnson, and he preceded her in death. Age 91, passed away November 1, 2006. She was born February 7, 1915 to Herbert & Blanche (Variell) Wilkinson in Allegan County. Age 52, passed away Wednesday November 1, 2006 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born on August 24, 1954 in Ann Arbor , Michigan the son of George and Jeannette (May) Winans. John worked for Chelsea Community Hospital and recently received a 30 year award for his dedication for his employment. John attended the Chelsea Free Methodist Church, enjoyed playing the drums, was an avid Michigan State fan and always said hello to everyone. Surviving are his parents of Chelsea, two brothers, Curt Winans of Milford, and Rob (Lori) Winans of Chelsea, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Monday November 6, 2006 at 2:00 PM. from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, with Rev. Larry L. Lyons officiating. He graduated from Dexter high school, and worked for Miller Tool and Die in Jackson and retired 2002 after 15 years. He was a member of Local 435 in Jackson and enjoyed the breakfast Club with his retirees. On September 23, 1959 he married Marilyn F. Flick and she survives. Also surviving are Seven children, Kim (Jim) Hatch of Chelsea, Lucinda Reames of Stockbridge, Kraig Reames of Saline, Jerilyn (Xerxes) Sarkary of Agoura Hills CA, Stephanie (Adam Corcoran) Reames of Chelsea, Jennifer Reames of Chelsea and Jason (Audrey Stratz) Reames of Chelsea. Clifford R. Collinsworth
of Chelsea, MI.
Age 20 was defending our country in Ar-Ramadi, Iraq and was killed in the line of Duty on October 21, 2006. He was born on January 22, 1986 in Ann Arbor, Michigan the son of Donald and Trisha (Steger) Collinsworth. Clifford graduated from Chelsea High School in 2004 and played Football and wrestled. Six days after graduating from High School Clifford enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, NC. He was a member of the Herbert McKune American Legion Post 31 of Chelsea and loved to be with his family and his buddies. Surviving are his parents of Chelsea, sister Melissa (Derek Eaton) Collinsworth of Chelsea, grandparents; Clifford Collinsworth of Chelsea, Mark Steger of Chelsea, Donald (Harriet) Wild of Ann Arbor, and great grandparents, Edward (Jean) Ingalls of Rochester Hills, MI. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles Jeff Steger of Chelsea, Randy (Debbie) Ellis of Chelsea, John (Carrie) Garrison of Hamburg, and Jimmy Collinsworth of Chelsea; as well as, several cousins including Jimmy Collinsworth and Jamie Westcott-Collinsworth. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Norma Collinsworth in July of 2000. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 30, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home 901 N. Age 72 died October 17, 2006 at W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was Born on March 5, 1934 in Union City, Tennessee, the daughter of Otto and Susan (Bell) White. She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1952 and received her bachler of science of Nursing at the University of Michigan and received her Masters of psychology from Michigan State University. She was Professor of Nursing at Jackson Community College retiring in December of 1993 after 33 years. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, National League of Nursing and received the J. Ward Preston outstanding faculty Award. Pat was instrumental in starting the LPN and RN programs at Jackson Community College as well as the transfer program of RN nursing thru the University of Michigan. Also a former member of the Chelsea McKune Library Board, and former member of the Chelsea United Way board. There is a room dedicated in her honor at the Jackson Community College for the outstanding care and commitment she gave her students and the entire nursing world, well done Pat. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Entire Staff at Foote Hospital and especially to Karen on the 3rd floor. On April 6, 1968 in Jackson she married Lyle D. Chriswell and he survives. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Mary White of LaGrange, IL and special niece and nephews; Katherine (Bruce) Yepsen of Illinois, Rob White of Los Angeles, Calif. and David White of Washington, State. Age, 79, passed away Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 1, 1927 in Terre Haute, IN the son of Charles and Anna Jacobs. Daniel served our country in World War II in the United States Navy. He enjoyed bowling, watching TV, coaching his children’s sports teams and bragging about his children. Most of all he enjoyed being with his wife Jean. He supported his family in the printing industry prior to his retirement and was known as a leader wherever he worked. Daniel is survived by his loving wife Jean; sons Daniel, Colt, and Ty; daughter Gina, and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Wesley. The Jacobs family is having a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are by the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home.
