Douglas E. McKim
of Stockbridge, MI
Age 83 passed away at his farm surrounded by his family. He was born the son of Lloyd and Margaret (Lamb) McKim on September 28, 1924 in Stockbridge, Michigan. On September 1, 1943 he married Arlene Freiermuth and she survives. Doug was very proud of his farm and he loved farming and his antique tractor. He also enjoyed working as a community leader for Happy Hustlers 4-H. He also enjoyed serving as Supervisor of Stockbridge Township, being a Board member of Federal Land Bank, and being a Session Member of Vantown Community Church where he was a member for several years. Most of all he loved his family especially his grand children and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Sue (Michael) Barbour of Manchester, MA, Becky (Jeral) Whitaker of Stockbridge; grandchildren Kurt and Brent Barbour and Jason, Ryan and Nancy Whitaker as well as eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters Hester Fillmore of Stockbridge and Ellie Breniser of Gregory. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Nancy McKim-Collins and one brother Gordon Topping. Funeral services will be Monday, October 1, 2007 at 11:00 at the Caskey-Mitchell funeral home with Pastor Terry Turner officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Nancy McKim-Collins Memorial Scholarship Fund. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and again Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
