
of Stockbridge, Michigan, age 86, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born on November 6, 1922 in Stockbridge, the son of Ord and Edith (Daugherty) Price. He attended McKenze Country School for eight years and then graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1940. Upon graduation he went into the auction business with his father who was an auctioneer for a number of years. Mr. Price passed away in 1952 and Maurice was joined in the auction business by his two brothers, Robert and Richard. Maurice was an auctioneer for 60 years. He was part-owner in Price Tractor and Implement Co. and also helped to organize the Price Brothers Band which played for wedding receptions, anniversaries, and other social affairs. He is a past president of Michigan State Auctioneers Association and also served two terms on the board of directors. Maurice was a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church. Maurice was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert in 1998 and Richard in July of 2004. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Audrey Price of Stockbridge; his nephews, Robert Price of San Clemente, CA, Ben of Stockbridge, and Ted of San Francisco; his nieces, Edith Lindeburg of Parker, CO and Leeanne Cubberly of Stockbridge; and also his cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home with Parson Billy Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to SAESA.
